I wouldn't read too much into the number of unfilled vacancies.
There's nothing binding about them.
Crew Resources knows they need at least 1 unbid slot in those categories so they just throw a big number on the AE posting. That's why you'll see big round numbers like 50 or 80 or whatever.
They post those new hire category openings strictly for contractual reasons. They have to offer all openings to existing pilots before they can assign new hires to them.
They can post 5 or 500 "openings". It doesn't make any difference to them as long as at least 1 goes unbid.
If you want to get a better idea of required and projected manning, look at the 22D2 and 22D3 reports on the Crew Resources Advance Entitlements webpage.

Congrats! Is the Jan 4th class full? I thought a few May 13 interview class folks would be called. Maybe some defers are in the Jan 4 class along with remainder of May 7 and all of May 12. -HT
