It was, this is from 14 years ago, a formal dinner that you brought your wife/girlfriend/significant other to so the big wigs could fill you full of the kool aid with statements like "I'd like to welcome our newest class of millionaires". Enjoy it because unless things have really changed it is one of only 2 or 3 nights that they sprung for a hotel room. Then it's off to the crash pad for training.

I don't remember dinner and big wigs at all. Free wings? No to that too. The only free wings I ever got were the frowny logo wings, and the widget fell out when I opened the box.
I was a noob in the Ron Allen/Leo Mullin Change of Command time frame, so maybe they weren't overly concerned about our motley class of 10. They had bigger problems looming on the horizon.

This is one topic that I think is confusing. Some say it will take 3+ years because that is what it has taken recently. What you have to consider is that we have not hired in 3 years and have not hired steadily for over 12 years.
Guys about 500 numbers above the plug are currently in LAX and SLC. With projected hiring at 600/year guys may see the west coast in a year.
One more thing I have noticed - when things are slow guys get tired of waiting and bid where they want to be, even if they will be very very junior. When the movement picks up some guys will wait for a little more seniority before they move around which may also help more junior guys get out west quicker.

Mods,
Is there any way to build a Delta Forum at the top of the "Majors" page...then move this thread into it?
I've got a feeling this thread will be open and active for a very long time. Would be nice to have this off the main Majors page.

Yes, but it changes with the schedule. I live in northern San Diego county and would fly primarily our of SNA until about 18 months ago when the 73N stopped flying out of SNA.
DAL has not flown out of Burbank in years. ONT has pretty much dried up also - the 737 will rarely get an ONT trip, for the last 18 months the 737 has been almost exclusively LAX.
The 757 now has a bunch of SNA flying, not sure if they are doing much ONT, but I doubt it.
If you come out to LAX on the 757/767 it may take a while until you hold SNA but with PBS the bid package can change on a dime. I used to fly the 757 but bid down to the 737 for better seniority - now the 737 has no SNA and the 757 does. Oh well.
Welcome aboard!
