I don't think they will give me the retirement without extending me, I have pursued it pretty hard. The bosses say that they will write any letter that I request, as the policy changed recently.
As far as the eligibility in the interview, I did not try to mislead them in anyway. I put the date that I thought I would be available, and had no reason to think any different. Several other guys in the command have done the same thing with no issues.

Having said that, a year ago (ish), Delta's rule was unlimited deferrals for Military reasons. Caveat being you're giving up seniority.

Most of them got to IOE, where they were unable to be signed off by a Check Airman. Couple have washed out in the sim. All were given an opportunity to requalify for their Captain jobs at Compass. All of them did, with one exception. They also get come back at their former pay rate and with their original date of hire/seniority.

Barring another 9/11 I think we'll keep hiring steadily (and if there were a disaster like that, they'd be furloughing anyway). That said, last winter they were running ~145 through class a month. That adds up to a lot of seniority in six months.
That's a really tough call, I wish you the best of luck with it. End of the day, a CJO is a pretty good thing. Difficult decision but the main thing is that big picture I think you'll be fine whichever way you go.

As long as you have orders you can defer. PFA deferrals are limited to one. Life events (baby, death, and possibly immediate family weddings they will work with you. If USAF changed their mind (shocking, I know) just explain the situation when they call to offer you a class. AF is a very reasonably guy.

So, To be clear.... There are no calls going out for Aug. 3? And the 4/16 and 4/21 cjo guys are being called for Aug. 17 IOE? Do we presume that means that Aug. 3 will be all Compass again? Has anyone past 4/21 cjo been called for the Aug 17 class? Did anyone ask Andy how big the Aug 17 class would be?

I had a military deferral for 3 months. Andy Frey just asked for a copy of my current orders to put in my file and to call him as soon as I was sure what my availability date was. He plugged me into the first class I was available for.
