My boss recommended to the VSP board that I not be released....the board ignored him.

So if I understand correctly you are talking about going on terminal in aug if approved and oct/Nov if not?

Just my idle curiosity here, I have zero canines in the altercation...:

What defines the end of the flow? Was the "plug" flow guy hired on/before a certain date, and the next guy at Compass hired the next day or later?

Did/has the flow-eligible vs. non-flow-eligible distinction caused any friction at Compass?

Is/was there any way to "fail" the flow, or is/was it truly "effective on <date>, you're on the DL seniority list"...?

Did/has anyone bypassed the flow, choosing to stay at Compass (presumable for seniority reasons)? In any significant number?

Again, just curious--I was never at Compass, and the one guy I know at Compass was just hired a couple of months ago (thus not flow-eligible)....

Everyone on the list before a certain date were grand fathered in. The next class of pilots after that date do not have flow rights. I know a couple of those guys are mad because they interviewed while the flow was still active, they didn't start class until after.

No friction that I have seen but some guys have been vocal about some things while forgetting their audience in the crew room. For instance I overhead a guy say " I am torn about going because my QOL is so great here as a check airman and Ill be taking a pay cut" Boowho, you're going to DELTA! Everyone would kill to be in their position.

The flow guys can fail up to a certain point at Delta and return to Compass. A couple have.

We have a group of age 60+ former ATA Captains and a couple other random people who have chosen to stay.

You can bring it up to them and see what they say but that's a drastic difference...have you thought of palace chasing and finishing out til retirement in the guard/reserve?

Yes I have thought about the reserves. I can drop my papers then do the reserves. I think the retirement would be the better option, but Delta would have to be okay with it. I am not sure how the military deferral works. I think I will ultimately have to call over there to find out, but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

Man, tough call. How many years do you have? Guard reserve an option if you cant get this? I have the pension, and am pretty fond of it. It has made first year pay much easier. Not sure I'd want to give up maybe 500 seniority numbers. Have you pushed for an answer whether theyll give you the retirement without extending you? Whats your boss say? Significant other?

Separate issue, how exactly did you present availability at your interview and on application?

Thanks for the info (i.e., feeding my curiosity!)....

Any stories to go with this? What is that "certain point," what did they fail for, etc? Can't be too serious, or [one would assume] Compass wouldn't want them back, no??

I don't think they will give me the retirement without extending me, I have pursued it pretty hard. The bosses say that they will write any letter that I request, as the policy changed recently.

As far as the eligibility in the interview, I did not try to mislead them in anyway. I put the date that I thought I would be available, and had no reason to think any different. Several other guys in the command have done the same thing with no issues.
