Emb170man,
I'm familiar with both drives. I'd say it depends on what kind of lifestyle you want. DTW - fly or drive. CVG - drive only. I haven't looked recently, but I'm guessing "new" hires in CVG are on reserve a lot longer. Short call is, safely, 2 hours. Unless you're down by Grove City, it's a stretch to sit it from home. Even that is tight. While DTW is a longer drive, it has more options, more movement for new hires. If you want the ER, you'll be on reserve relatively longer compared to the other equipment in DTW, but if that's the kind of flying you want to do, it might be worth it. I'm sure you know that the 88 is only in CVG and not DTW. That might be a factor in your decision as well. DTW 717 new hires (March and April '14 hires) got 19 days off in December....including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and NYE. Not to say that will necessarily last, but movement in DTW is faster. 73N is a safe bet since it is based in both cities. If they only offer it in NYC to start, you could probably get to DTW fairly soon...CVG not as soon and not as predictable. PM me if you have any specific questions. Welcome to Delta!

Is there a new class starting today? If so, any news on the drop?

I was thinking the same thing. How many were in today's class?
