It used to be by age but was changed after 2001 because some people thought that was age discrimination.

Because it WAS age discrimination, back when our retirement plan was based on being over age 50 to collect.

Now that it's a 401K plan, well, who cares?

Our retirement plan should only be based on years of service, not age AND years of service.

I flew the DC9 as copilot, then the 727, then the 757, then my first Capt. gig was the MD88. In the sim I was swearing up a blue streak at the FMS, MCP, EFIS, lame Auto throttles.

"What a piece of Crap! I can't believe the FAA certified this POS!!" when the IP tapped me on the shoulder and asked, "You're coming off the 757, right?"

I answered, "Yeah, why?"

He said, "Because the guys coming off the DC 9 say, 'Wow, this is NEET!' but all the 757 guys sound like YOU!"

Default MSP or DTW aircraft to bid

I have not heard much about getting to MSP and what aircraft to bid to get to MSP soonest. Would someone enlighten me, please?

For DTW, 717 was listed below as the most junior. What's second?

Thanks.

MD88 will get you MSP soonest by far.

"Soonest" seems to be a relative thing. If I'm reading correctly, most jr is a Jan 14 hire, and there have been a few hundred MSP flows hired since then. Looks more sr than both LAX and SLC

Any updated time frame on how "soon" a new hire could hold a line on the 73, or 320? I'm assuming as with most categories it would be quicker from east coast to west, but any timeframe guesstimates with all this hiring?

Thanks

I put together a list of new hire categories here, ranked in order of seniority (most junior first):

http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ma...ml#post1753365

Norm is roughly 20% of a category is on reserve, so once you hit 80% seniority you can somewhat reliably hold a line.
