Don't forget to take a look at the DPMP as well. That may work better for you depending on your circumstances.

So now that one group uses it on the way out and the entire pilot group has to may more for their entire careers. They needed to raise the dues proportionate for that one time group and then slowly raise them on everyone as the actuarials caught up.

Other than that its a good system, although I'd like to see more options for a LTD bridge plan than what ALPA offers. Something to bring the long term total up to at least 2/3, and it should be ALV or something like that. You shouldn't be rewarded or punished for a decade or two just because you picked up or dropped some trips for 6 months or a year leading up to a LTD event. That doesn't make any sense to calculate it that way.
I was under the impression that when we merged with NW we allowed them to join DPMA. So essentially 4500 new bodies of all ages had instant disability benifits with out ever paying in while they were young and healthy. This was the primary cause of the rate increase. I heard this from a capt that has some affiliation with administering the DPMA program, so it is purely second had info.

Its worth to check Diamond HSA. Its cheap and works well. This year, for next year, we have to jump through a bunch of hoops to receive some money from the company. But overall the Diamond HSA has come in cheaper than GOLD or Delta Pilot Medical Plan. Plus the HSA $$ rolls over and can be another tool to lower your Income/Tax obligation and increase your retirement.

To quote from the DPMA letter from 2008: "The JCBA contractually offers pre-merger NWA pilots the opportunity to enroll in DPMA following DCC in recognition of their accrued NWA sick leave balances."

Some folks had SUBSTANTIAL sick banks, and sick banks over 1,500 hours were not uncommon. 1,500 hours at 80 hrs/mo is nearly 19 months of pay.

It is just the wife and myself and I "believe" the premiums are near $225/month. I will look at my paycheck to verify.

We have been moderately impressed with the coverage, although you do run into some providers who will not take United Health Care.

Mine was 1650. We were allowed to use a percent of that each month to offset the premiums of DPMA. As I recall, I paid about $14 a month.

The only DPMP that I see referenced on Deltanet is associated with Dental coverage. Is there a DPMP health plan in addition to the gold and silver hras and diamond and ruby hsas?

I know that is what they gave up to get into DPMA and some gave up a TON of sick pay. Did Delta take the sick bank money they would have used and put it into DPMA? I don't think they did so the plan still became underfunded when they all came in even though they gave up something significant.

Yes, and it is a ton more money than all the others. The advantage we have with DPMP is it is contractually protected as far as how much prices can go up and it includes dental coverage. That and if the company ditches all health care plans for a government run system we still have the DPMP.
