I think you summed it up.

Helps to have lots of people go over app.

Have you considered a prep firm?

Good luck

Took me well over 4 years to graduate, just be prepared to explain why it took so long, they hired me.

I have just about every bullet point one could throw onto their resume except a check airman. Multiple degrees, veteran status, heavy time and company staff positions. However I've found friends of mine with no type ratings and 3100TT get a phone call right off the bat.. I've been to hiring events, I've met with a lot of pilots, yet still need to know if there is some way to get noticed? I just want to be noticed with everyone else in consideration.

You need to find a Delta guy you have flown with to send an internal rec to the hiring dept. Clearest way to get your app looked at.

And make sure your app is squared away before you app is scored. As I understand, apps will only get scored once per year. If you are going to upgrade or become a check airman or finish a masters degree soon, it might be worth waiting to "phone a friend". If you app is sloppy and gets scored and you are not selected for an interview, you will also wait for a year before it is scored again.

Although the app may look simple, they information you include and the attention to detail are possibly as important as the content in the app itself. Remember, this is the first impression you will make to Delta (or any airline).

Here are a few pointers to get people started:

The app asks for 10 year work history. Include EVERY job that you have had, even back to high school. Doesn't matter if you had a paper route or were a dishwasher in high school and then worked at an FBO while you were in college. If you were a recruiter what candidates app would look better, the one who only lists the regional that they have worked at for 10 years or the app that has a detailed job history that showed consistent employment and also includes the last 10 years at a regional?

Use consistent formatting on your app. When entering addresses don't use "Ave" in one section and "Avenue" in another. Same with phone numbers, (123)456-7890 vs 123-456-7890.

If you are trying to get a really good job at a really good airline, make that reflect in the effort and attention to detail that you put into your app (and your paperwork package at the the interview).

When you do get an interview, you will be spending money for hotels, interview prep, suit, shoe shine, photo copies, etc. I think it would be wise to do an app review as well.

Back in November I had a friend (still in new hire training) submit an internal letter of rec. He received the response that my applocation would be scored. It's now been 4 months with no word. Without being arrogant I feel like I have a strong app. It's been reviewed by a consulting firm, 1,000+ hrs turbine PIC, line check airman, sim instructor, Magna Cum Laude GPA. Is there any requirement for length of employment for a Delta pilot to submit an internal letter, and for the applicant to get their app scored? I have heard a rumor that the pilot must be on property at least a year. I know interviewing has been slower since the start of the year, I'm just getting a little eager for any news I can get.

It would have been scored in December or January, and at that point they weren't handing out many interviews. IF you're on the list to be called I wouldn't be surprised if it took another couple of months. It's also possible that you simply didn't make the score, but considering you have what they look for let's hope that isn't the case. Good luck!

No criminal charges, a couple diving infractions from over 10 years ago.

I haven't seen any mention of rotor wing folks with Delta.
The trend seems to be hiring younger lately.
When it comes to apps and getting "fix it" emails, are they looking for exact dates on jobs (to the day), residency, etc, or is the month good enough?
First of all, thank you for your service. I've flown with a couple of Army rotor wing pilots recently and a good friend of mine at Delta is a Navy rotor wing pilot, so they do hire rotor wing. They all got some fix wing time prior to Delta.

I don't think the trend is hiring younger, because they prefer younger, it just might be due to a younger pool of candidates. I think your military training background will be viewed as a plus, whether fixed or rotor wing.

Regarding your application. Kill them with detail. It's a good sign if they are pimping you for more detail. I had a buddy with his app in and he never got a call. I inquired and learned that they wanted more details on where and when he got all his training. He sent them everything he could possibly think of and got an interview shortly thereafter. Best of luck to you.

You're a Delta pilot from day one of indoc. Not only do they care abut your recommendations, they encourage it. I've been here over two years and I'm 0 for 5 I believe on recommendations. This has more to do with your app than anyone recommending you. If you haven't already, get as many eyes on your app as possible. Start with the free sources first, i.e. family, close industry pals, et al. If that doesn't pay dividends then start paying for the app review services.
