I can't imagine how a 23 year old could have a application that would score well enough to land an interview. My guess is either the person is connected to someone on the inside OR this is a experiment to see how well a minimally qualified pilot can be trained and perform. Perhaps a sign of the future when pilots get hired straight out of college and bypass regional/military/corps.

That's what I thought. We could easily have a 24 year-old captain before long. One guy on the North side that got hired at 23 was #1 for many years. It was a quick trip to captain, and he bid left seat of the 747-400 when it arrived and rode out at least a dozen years of his career bidding top spot on the "pride of the fleet." Even decided to "rope" on the 747-200, hoping age 60 would go away. It did, but he was gone by then. Close to 42 years will be quite an adventure for this young man (or woman?) Congratulations to you!

I often fly with a captain who already has 40 years at Delta. It's happened before! I think he was also 23!!! That's what happens when u get all your ratings in your teens and work through college as a professional pilot.
