They handed you a business card that stated this was not an interview but only a resume review. It was just a very cold process compared to the other carriers I spoke with. Some that had Delta fast passes had more senior people that actually talked to them about who they were to get to know them. Just as long as the app gets scored from handing them my resume.
That's what I keep hearing. Slinging gear as an RJ FO to a Delta Pilot and now doing the job fair interviews. As long as the apps get scored I guess it doesn't matter... Good luck all!

Maybe their resume reflected their commitment to helping others and was enough to generate the job offer? And their willingness to volunteer, at their own expense, is what you're seeing.

I know a lot great volunteers at the United way and Salvation Army. None of them could fly a plane.

People need to realize this job is not about how nice you are or how much you help people. It's about how well you fly a plane, willingness to learn, accept instruction, and use good judgment.

These jobs are not charities...people need to lose that "group hug" mentality.

Avg guy hired at AA last year had 5556 hrs.

'Group hug' isn't the first cut but it might be the final cut.

I agree. However, when you have 15,000 qualified applicants all fighting each other for the same job -yes, it's annoying as someone said earlier, this is simply a way to weed people out.

Delta has 10,000 applicants that can all fly airplanes. There is a reason they don't do a sim ride at the interview. They want people who have that "group hug" mentality. Is that the right way to hire pilots? Not sure. There are HR people out there much smarter than me, but for now it seems to be working for Delter.

Delta wants to hire pilots that won't say, "I can't help you, I'm here to fly the planes from A to B," when a customer approaches them about anything and everything relating to their flight. They want you to "group hug" all of your customers. If you aren't on board with that, that's great. Just don't complain about Delta's hiring process if you aren't.

Exactly!. I get so tired of hearing thats not my job. How about just do it because it needs to be done and don't expect recognition.

The competition is tough but isn't anything worth having worth working hard for? I know many qualified pilots who are great guys/ gals but it takes time to get all these people through the doors. I personally wish we could do it faster but I'm also thankful that they are selective. I want to keep this place as nice as I found it...or better
