AK said that for guys with availability dates in the future he won't call until they are "about 60 days out". He said there is no "pool" so they can't hold a spot.

He also said that career progression is huge and that giving back to the company and community is what they are looking for. This is a service oriented company and they are looking for those traits in their new pilots.

However, one of the mil pilots NOT hired during my interview in 2013 was asked why he didn't bring the detailed records, and the way he handled that question may have been a factor in his non-selection.

Thanks for all the responses guys. That helps a lot. Also its cool that the three people that replied to me are Krazy Flying Elvis Muzick which sounds like a great tribute band. Thanks again guys.

What do you think he meant by "career progression"? Upgrading early, or are they looking for becoming a check airman, sim instructor, etc?
Also, just trying to figure out how to convey giving back to the company on the application...

He was saying that they want to see that you took advantages of opportunities when they became available. An example would be that you didn't upgrade because you preferred your current schedule and seniority.

I took it that you upgraded when possible, or took on roles instructing or in the union. Basically you did more than the bare minimum. He said the understand some opportunities to be PIC/LCA may not exist. However, if you did work as a union rep and the like that may be view similarly.

That's how I read the tea leaves.

How cool would it be if they just wanted to hire qualified pilots that it would be good to share a cockpit with for a few days

Straight from AK this morning, there are 3 ways to get your app reviewed and scored by a Delta pilot: attend a job fair, LOR sent to pilot screening team, or just score high enough through airline apps.
