It makes sense. My cousin is very high up at US Border Protection (aviation) and used to be able to make that call. Now it's a computer scoring system to get you through the first selection

Thanks Check!

I was upset that I had to pay for a hotel when I was hired. Found a crashpad and moved in with a 30 year old über hottie. She was a pharmaceutical rep who owned her own house near the airport. Another newbie and I rented a room. We spent A LOT of time at the crash pad hanging with the owner. See folks, there is a upside. Just have to find the right crash pad. Boobus gigantis.

Thanks

I recently shared a table in the cafeteria with a gal who is involved with pilot hiring. I jokingly mentioned the names of the 2 people who I'm recommending. She pulled out a pen and wrote them down but I'm not holding my breath. I do know for a fact that a few people got hired in 2010 because they had very good connections, VERY good.

What would very good connections be considered?

I would think if the CEO put your name in the mix you would be good. Although, a guy I know had Fred Smith recommend him to hiring and didn't get the job. Got the interview though

That makes sense to me. There's no reason to hire someone that's a poor fit, regardless of how well connected they are.

Back in 2001, a top 50 seniority captain going to a NASCAR race with Plato R seemed to work.
