For what it's worth, while the person in question made it to DAL with less TT than most civilians, they certainly earned their slot as much as or more than every other hire - flow, SSP, or traditional interviewee. Their interview was essentially being able to pass a major Part 121 type rating program with flying colors, with all the bigshots watching! That's pressure!

We all took different roads here & I for one am glad about it. Would be boring to fly with people of the exact same background all the time.

It appears the MD88 flying & lifestyle thread has convinced nobody they should take it over the 7ER!

FWIW, I have no problem at all with any low time pilot getting on with Delta regardless of race or gender. I just wrote a LOR for a friend of mine who is female/lowtime/no PIC. No heartburn at all and welcome any new hire below me on the seniority list regardless of how hard or easy their road to Delta was. My original post that got "The Man" all riled up was meant as a joke and if it offended anyone other then him, I apologize as that was not my intent.

Funny! I made the same choice as a new hire. I took a harder commute to the 7ER to avoid an easier commute to the M88. Would make the same choice in a heart beat if had to do over.

It was in poor taste for me to bring up something that had nothing to do with the subject. I should have been more composed. For that I apologize. When someone uses a special program then ridicules another, in a derogatory manner, it raises pressures. I should have just ignored it. Yes Gloopy, everyone deserves an opinion. Especially when it is expressed as such. However, not in a manner that's meant to be demeaning to another gender and hidden in the disguise of "just joking around". Its the same as someone making a racial comment and then saying "just joking". We all know how it was meant.

thought over, good day

Thanks for taking the "high road."

FWIW - I deleted a bunch of personal insults above, let's try to stay on subject. If you want to argue that's fine, but please do so with facts and logic and omit the personal stuff.

I didn't ridicule anyone, especially in a derogatory manner. I explained the intent of my post and I know exactly why it got you so riled up. Again, I have no qualms about anyone who got on with Delta regardless of race, gender, dues paid or lack there of. As a flow I'd be the last person to ridicule anyone who had an easy in to get on with Delta, DUH!! SSP, Flow, Low time, whatever, I welcome them all without any heartburn. You need to lighten up a bit and relax. Done beating this dead horse.

FWIW, my class was full of flows. Excellent bunch of individuals, many of whom took their own personal time with me to work on flows in the trainers during sims. I'd enjoy working with any one of those guys and girls: good people, great stories, and lots of excellent 121 experience that I sorely lack.

EDIT:

BTW, in that class drop I didn't see 717 listed. Were there any in the drop?
