It's my understanding that the previous 330 order is growth along with the 717. Is this correct and is this what's driving these huge numbers? Have the mandatory retirements even started in large numbers yet? I didn't think they had.

On the narrow body side things are better. We have 717's and 737's coming at around 5 per month. When the 717's are done A321's start to arrive. The totals are 88 717's, 100 737's and 45 A321's. The small motored domestic 767's will be parked in 2017 and 757's are being parked on a ongoing basis. I would guess between now and 2018 we will park another 40 to 50 757's. That fleet will then stabilize at 74 aircraft for a few years. They are buying used 757's however they will not change that 74 number in the current plan.
Everything I have written is subject to change tomorrow!

The 330 order was planned for growth. With the early retirements of the 747 they are now replacement aircraft. The first couple of A350's will replace the last 747's so there are no widebody growth airframes until late 2018.

Roger, but if ghilis101 is projecting that shortage for the summer, and Delta is training between 115 and 135/mo for the end of this year and beginning of next, staffing would seem about right? If Delta IS short in the summer, I certainly understand increased green slips...would Reserve usage also escalate beyond the guarantee?
