If you don't get hired Delta (or any other airline) isn't going to tell you why. I got hired in 2001 without any moving violations. They will also check, so if you are dishonest, you won't get the job. Best advice is be yourself, be honest, and show that you've learned from mistakes. No one is perfect, so if you project that way it will come across as dishonest also. Good luck to all who are interviewing, and to those who want to work here, don't worry if you've not gotten called yet. The process has only just begun for what is hopefully a years long hiring spree!

So you think Delta should manually review thousands of physical resumes.

The 11K and 8 K numbers sound pretty realistic - the number we were told by management in Feb was 9K. Don't know anything about the 2K with internals, that never came up and no one thought to ask.

And yes only 3 tiers. Might that change down the road -who knows?

Manual resume review introduces biases of the reviewer and is typically based on untested assumptions. Modern applicant review systems use data culled from surveys that identify the most affective employees and the traits they share. Often, traditional metrics (experience, school, etc.) do little to predict good employees. Analytics can statistically identify the best applicants without introducing bias. Moneyball has moved to corporate hiring.

If a company who hires many applicants uses a manual system while their competitor uses analytics the competitor will hire more productive employees. Certainly there are pitfalls to a computer hiring system as it is relatively new but its efficient, effective, and here to stay.

The NPR show "Planet Money" did a show on computer hiring. It is episode #509 titled "Will a Computer Decide Whether You Get Hired". It is worth 20 minutes of your time if you are interested in these things.

For those worried about tickets. I had 7 on my record (over the last 14 years) and someone else in my class had 0. It's all about how you explain it.

Just curious if DAL needs GPA from high school? I have my graduating GPA from my BS Degree, but did not list high school. Should I get my transcripts from HS and put it on? It was a pretty pathetic GPA compared to my college GPA. Any positive words from guys that had less than stellar grades in HS but turned things around big time in college?

I had to list HS on my application, with GPA. They did not require your HS transcript, but they do require college transcript(s) at the interview. I would say that if you had a lower GPA in high school and a good GPA in college, then that shows good progression and tells a good story.

I am glad I am not alone in thinking/hoping I can show I got my act together and buckled down. Now just to get the call to explain myself!

Don't recall that they cared about HS, but they busted by nuts on a D I got in Freshman Engrish. Re took the class for an A and graduated with a 3.75 and then went on for a Masters, but, darned if my Delta personnel file says I may not be good in a job which requires writing.

You should be fine unless they see your screen name
