Delta Hiring News

I interviewed at DL a few years ago and they asked me one of these BS hypothetical questions. Had to do with a FA who wanted a PAX taken off the plane and I said if the FA wants the pax off the plane then they get off the plane. To me these are crap questions because you never have all the deets. I think they want someone who will do what the Capt wants with no questions asked, but what do I know, I didnt get hired!
Hilarious!!!

You were supposed to ask,
"Was she hot?"

You're the FO, plane has mx issue at the gate, Capt. asks you to announce to the pax we have a delay due to weather. What do you do? I asked the reason for the Capt wanting to say weather and they replied he doesn't want to scare pax with mx issue. I said I respect the Capt. and his authority, but think we should tell pax it is mx, unless we were assured by mx it would be fixed quickly then we could use the wx excuse. We just need to be careful if we use the wx excuse so we don't look foolish later if the mx issue forces us to cancel.
Looking back, I am wondering if they were testing to see if I would stand up to the Capt. in defense of being totally honest with the pax. Maybe that hosed me? I dunno. Could be that or something else, but that is the only thing that stands out in my mind. Fortunately, I was offered a second interview for next May.

I got this question and told a story about how I ran a wheel chair bound pax through O'Hare and almost dumped the lady out the front when I went over a power cord I didn't see, and gave her the reach around to prevent spillage. The old Costanza "I stop short." Even had the stone-faced HR guy laughing, he scared me.

You didn't get the point of the questions. They want to watch you work the problem, "expand your team," and use good deduction skills to find the best course of action while respecting your coworkers.
They give you a somewhat vague question intentionally to watch how you methodically build the picture and work the problem (be a captain).... or do what you did. I'll give you one guess as to what direction scores higher.

Exactly. I think some people are somehow reaching the conclusion that they want you to flat out refuse to do that the CA is asking in that situation as that is the "right answer". There's way more too it than that. There are ways you can comply with what the CA is asking and "still get hired" it all depends on how you get there and possibly what you do from there. These typically aren't right/wrong answer test questions. They are dynamic probmel solving methodology exercises and they are more interested in watching you work through it than any one outcome in most cases.
Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with hiring, so I don't know what the "right" answer is, but I am basing my comment on 20+ years at DAL.
