I know...i know...it is kinda right of passage at APC...just reminded me of the guard cops who have nothing better than to pop off on guys that forget to switch. Those guys annoy me! Anyways...carry on..back to lurk mode!

I hear a lot of guys get the fix-it email but sounds like it doesn't really mean much.

Can anyone tell me who has been getting a invite for an interview at Delta from off the street? I have heard they are looking for astronauts. I have a friend with an interview and it appears they are looking for this;

8000 hours total time
6000 hours PIC
5000 hours Turbine PIC
6000 hours Part 121
Never failed a checkride
Three or Less driving tickets/violations
Applied over 5 years ago
Graduated magna cum laude GPA 3.9
1 internal letter of recommendation
Bachelors degree accomplished in 4 or less years, no breaks

Am I missing anything? Would you agree that this is what they are looking for? Has anyone gotten an interview with anything other than this? I know that military is a whole different animal and has an entirely different criteria. I am just curious who has been getting the invite. I have a lot of friends that got the fix it email but then have heard nothing. Guess they currently have 8000 applications right now too. Just curious of the 8000 how many actually meet this criteria?

I don't think that really defines exactly what they are looking for. The applications are scored electronically based on what you have checked off and then they are looked at in more detail. The more boxes you check, they higher it will score initially...check airman, director of operations, type ratings, PIC time, undergrad degree, masters degree, astronaut rating, etc. I don't think there is a numerical cutoff for driving violations either. I think I listed 4 or 5, and I got hired (none were very serious though). Be honest...that's the key.

By the way, it doesn't really matter...If you want to work there, fill out an app. If they want you to interview, they will call. ;-)

I applied and have been anxiously awaiting for the day.

I just know he was one of the first ones that Delta has called from off the street and that is what he had on his application. I heard Arnie say that 7 driving violations is the cutoff for an interview. So I agree I do not think that driving violations are a really big deal. I have heard that GPA is a big deal when it comes to electronic scoring. I have heard community service is another big deal on the electronic scoring too. I applied last November and have not heard a word. I have almost the same application as his but I am a simulator instructor for a 121 operation. I just can't put my finger on what they are really looking for. I have a lower GPA, failed a checkride and only applied in November. So those variables must make my electronic score much lower than his. I know the SLC Delta Chief Pilot and met Jim Graham, I have like 4 internal letters of recommendation and I'm just dying to know where I sit on the list to be called one day.

I don't know if you are getting flight time as a sim instructor or not, but I called AK for a friend that was considering taking a sim job (Flight Safety, no other flying). My buddy was concerned it might take him out of the running.

Sure enough, AK was adamant about FLYING currency. He even said that he's got DGS guys training our guys on the A330 that he won't hire because of no current flying.

FWIW

Speaking of DGS instructors:

What do those guys get paid?

Are most retired pilots or medically disqualified pilots?
