Unfortunately, the fact that there are so many flows at the moment means there aren't a ton of slots for off the street hires - thus, the astronaut selection process. I think that'll change later in the year as there will be quite a few months with no flows and a ton of off the street hiring, certainly a whole lot more than they were talking a few months ago.

Don't forget the Reno guys, and arguably the Eagle flows to the mix. My neighbor was hired at Piedmont in 1987 and he is currently an FO on the baby bus because that's the best he can do. Bet your coach could be more senior on the future list. Glad we are not in their shoes! Cheers H

Well if theyre taking the first class available (AA), its not like they cant leave later once DAL calls. I would guess, however, the thought of retiring top 100 on that seniority list (which they probably are looking at) is going to keep them at AA. To each his/her own. You'll see people leave every major for every other major based on whatever personal reasons. The majors account for this in their hiring.

Yeah, you go in at your current longevity but for some idiotic reason, it stops at 12 so the only way anybody ever gets any pay increase is thru a new contract. So once again, we put ourselves at the mercy of management. If they choose to drag their feet when there is a contract in negotiations, nobody gets a pay increase that has been around more than 12 years until it is agreed upon. Insanity.

Agreed. the 12 year pay scale is a VERY GOOD thing. I work at a company with a 25 year pay scale and not one person would choose that over a 12 year scale. If you wanted a longer payscale duration, all they would do is take that 12 year figure and stretch it out however many more years to get the same maximum figure, thereby costing you money.
