Doubtful, since the interview team is supposed to be taking a break for all of April.

Nice going, CGFH! This is why we can't have nice things!

They aren't the only ones…my buddy at United said they had to stop interviewing since they can't keep up with the training.

Not making this a mil vs civ thing (I totally get why airlines like mil pilots) but I'm curious what civilian guys/gals are getting the interview invites? Curious what is making the first cut. Is it heavily connected, check airman, chief pilot, etc? Thanks in advance

I know of a few RJ FO's with no TPIC that have been hired. Connections matter.

The civilian pilots getting hired now are well qualified. Their entire application is impressive.

I have seen Chief Pilots, Asst Chief Pilots, DPE, LCA and project managers. Most have at least a 3.0 GPA, some have a Master's Degree. They are involved at work and in the community. They all have a great attitude on life.

There have been a few who do not have any TPIC but are well connected. Parents may have worked for Delta. They also have impressive applications but the only thing they lack is TPIC.

Everybody will get a chance to interview at some point. The key is to remain positive and not give up hope. There are so many qualified pilots and so few positions each year. Today is April 1st. Everybody should be updating their application every 1st of the month. Always think about what you can do to improve yourself at work and at home.

I have nothing to back this up other than personal observation, but a possible reason you're seeing a higher number of civilian pilots getting interviews vs mil than you would expect. I think more mil applicants these days are retirees. This is based mostly off of the group of guys I know who are applying; perhaps there are just as many younger pilots coming from the military, but I haven't seen it. So if you're an airline and you have a concern about building a new hire group that consists mostly of 43-45 year olds, maybe you decide to get younger applicants who tend to be non-mil.

In my interview group we had myself and another "young guy". Out of the 6, 2 mil 11 yr separatees, 1 civ pilot (RJ Capt), the other 3 were retirees. There were a few from the day before that were young bucks as well. I'd say there is a smattering of age groups getting hired right now. There may be some more young pilots coming on board soon as they talk about not having a bonus for the Mobility Pilots this year and the Force Shaping programs actually start releasing folks.

I know Delta is still interviewing, just not in April. I'm guessing they may be pausing the invites as there is quite a backup of interviews right now. I had a friend get the invite a couple weeks ago and was offered a July interview. They will be back at in May. Good luck!
