Delta Hiring News

I agree, I failed 2 classes early on in college and it brought my average down a lot. I learned a lot from it and it made me a better student in the long-run. However I'm very much concerned about how the failures and "overall GPA" would be viewed by a major interview panel. It would certainly be frustrating to see that requirement gone for some.
On another note, yes maybe staying at 9E would have been better haha. I was west coast and applied for west coast regionals when I was low-time. Had I known what was up today I would have applied at Pinnacle/Mesaba/Compass because I could potentially be at mainline now. But I didn't have that crystal ball and now like you I'm competing with people that simply made a lucky regional choice.

A couple of weeks ago I talked directly to one of the guys doing the interviews and grading the results he said that their results have shown that guys with a 2.5 -3.0 have actually done better than the guys with GPA above a 3.5 I don't think a 2.5 or something around that would disqualify anybody.

To be sure, I understand why Delta pilots care about who their fellow pilots are. I also understand not being happy about the way in which the SSP was negotiated.
If there is a redeeming quality, Delta gets full access to one's employee record, which is what now? A decade plus of part 121 flying, which must include captain time? To my mind, that person is no longer an unknown quantity proving themself in the matter of a one day interview. I imagine there will be more programs like this industry wide in short time, as well.
I really wish there was less animosity between pilot groups, and instead more reaching out between regionals and between mainline pilots with their connection pilots.

People on this forum talk like going to Delta Air Lines is as easy as submitting an app and having a rec.
Delta is hands down the top choice of nearly every aviator, even some of those at United, SWA and AA/LCC would love to make the jump.
Getting an interview there over the next 3-4 years will take an act of congress. ie: 1000 pic jet, 4 year degree, clean record, 2 or less failed checkrides + DAL internship or Upper management rec or family that is a Delta pilot.
I predict it will be 3-5 years before the average Joes could get an interview with competetive quals stated above and having a regular DAL line pilot rec. No Delta pilot rec at all, I predict 6+ years before you would hear...
Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, just want to put things into perspective. Obviously apply and network just don't want people holding their breath.
Good luck to everyone!

I ran into this post from a few months back and was wondering if anyone can shed any more light on Delta's hiring practices pertaining to family of present or retired pilots. How do you go about supplying them with this info--internal rec? Secondly, my three recommendation requests were sent to my friends via the airlineapps.com recommendation avenue to their respective DL email accounts. All three responded via personal emails. Is that a problem?
