Toga, I hate to disappoint you, but it just isn't like that.
Don't get me wrong: everyone's pleasant and professional, and you'll look forward to some trips when you see a particular name listed as the other pilot. However, there are so many of us, all on different schedules, that we just don't spend enough time together to develop the kind of camaraderie to which you've become accustomed.
I guess I'm saying that unlike in the Guard or Reserve, your fellow airline pilots aren't your family. Your family is your family.

One of the many many reasons why airline interview selection is more about personality than how many carrier traps one has, how many deployments, which F-teen/C-one super heavy/Stealth maga-hawk they flew, etc etc etc etc.
To circle back around. There will be times when you finish a trip and you feel like your best friends with the guy you just flew with. Then there will be other times when you simply say "nice flying with you, see ya later. Good luck catching the commute/be safe on the drive out home", etc etc etc.

I think it may depend on the territory or geographic location. However, when using the word "bro", it may carry more weight or get you past more layers by adding either "-ski", or "-sef" on the end. This is the stuff they DON'T tell you in the interview prep.

Got this email today! I've had the app in over two years without a word. Hopefully this means they are looking. Good luck to everyone!
Btw I'm Mil. For those Mil guys who didn't break up duty assignments, you may want to fix your app ASAP.
A review of your application reveals an unexplained gap or incomplete information in your employment history. If you were in the military, please LIST ALL ASSIGNMENTS SEPARATELY. ALL periods of time following high school graduation must be accounted for with either an education entry or an employment record. This information must be complete before your application can receive further consideration.
Thank you for your interest in a pilot position at Delta!
Sincerely,
The Delta Pilot Selection Team

Have a good weweekend "bro":-D
I fly with a lot of guys who participate in Delta ski stuff, boating, golf (??), and other activities where Delta crews and/or employees gather. The way they talk, they are pretty close with the others.
There are more than a few pilots at Delta that I would consider to be very good friends and I would have no problem calling them "bro."
