Delta Hiring News

4 of the top 66 sounds about right. I would guess a few more but most in the top 75 aren't going anywhere. Too old and they still have an ok gig being very senior/no commute/weekends & holidays off/maxed out vacation & 401K. Most live in MSP and don't want to commute for their 1st few years. I could go on and on but I don't see too many in the to 1-100 #'s drueling over the SSP and those that are aren't to thrilled about the idea of it.

TOGAANG,
You really seem to "get it", as far as the hiring process and classy attitude you display.
Delta has hired a slew of former military pilots and I think it's fair to say those making the hiring decisions know that it isn't just about number of hours. They understand the military system, and give credit for quality of jobs held such as leadership positions, etc.
With seven LOR's I'm cautiously optimistic your application will rise to the top. I hope to fly with you, preferably soon. Good Luck!

I agree...TOGAANG's attitude is exactly what Delta wants, and needs! Flying time is not important, attitude is everything! Some will slip through the cracks, but the interview team has a lot of experience cracking through everyone's "interview face" and really getting to know the real personality.

I will say I just looked at my end of August paycheck last year vs this year. I am up over $20,000 this year. I have worked a hell of a lot more and we still received a full profit sharing check this year though. There is no denying that my paychecks have gotten bigger. It's still not enough though.

I know Delta wants every blank filled on the application, but some on airline apps can not be filled out or "N/A" .... example: flight engineer or similar certificates if one does not have them or written.... they understand this right? I just know they are very picky on the application being filled out perfectly.... doing what I can to make sure it is correct.

Wow, that's amazing. Your point is noted also.... and agreed! That lack of initiative truly shows an entitled attitude in regards to going to Delta. Not being negative by saying that, but there is really no other way to interpret it. 4 of 66! That is really jaw dropping.... are they not interested in going maybe?

Thank you! I grew up flying Delta since my father started flying for them in 85 and my mom in 96. I know Delta is a business but it feels more like a family to me since they have paid for my first car, college, house etc.
I know my chance will come at some point, i just hope it's before my old man retires and I pass the interview.
Cheers
I look forward to flying with you and all the other pilots as well. Seems the morale at Delta is good and only improving.

Perhaps they'd like to try their hand at landing a heavy jet or crossing the big water. If only to say they did it.
And one more thing that puzzles me:
Maybe I've led a sheltered life but I've never experienced or quite understood the "yanking gear" epithet or the whole notion of first officers being somehow vastly inferior to captains.
Delta has a ton of guys who could easily hold captain but choose to remain first officers for a whole variety of reasons. And some of them make significantly more money than many captains.
I've been around here for many years (most of them as F/O) and I've never felt disrespected or somehow unworthy because I wasn't a captain.
There are no "gearb*tches" at Delta.
That must be a cultural thing from other airlines.

If it pays better and/or its more fun, then yes.

DL has a very different operational philosophy than most airlines...and I love it. I found that I was doing most of the stuff as an FO that I used to do as CA at Pinnacle. Sure made the transition easy!
