Sweet, one of our code share partners just ordered 20 more 777's. The fourth floor is high fiving.
China Eastern buys 20 Boeing 777s worth $6 billion - Boston.com

Also seems to me if we gave pinnacle $70M or $30M plus the $40M they owed us or whatever, plus what we gave Gol didn't we really make a profit last quarter instead of a $35M loss?

I just read the same thing. They get them all in 4 years as well. Guess we can kiss any ratio code share with the Chinese carriers goodbye. But don't worry we will have all those 717s to fly around at least until the scope we give up makes them obsolete when the super efficient 100 sweaters come around and make the DC-9 in all of its variations obsolete.

In the article it says they are getting rid of a few A340's as they burn too much gas but overall a net increase of widebodies (15 or so).

And for a little diversion,
Just rode down the elevator in PEK with some AWESOME talent who was upstairs interviewing with Emirates, good thing beauty like that is not here, we would have a hard time concentrating on flying!! Sorry no pix, left phone in room and that would have been so NOT cool, but I did think of you guys.

Excellent points. This potential 717 pickup (if it happens) will just end up replacing 88's/DC9's that end up getting parked. With some accelerated 757 retirements the fleet will still be shrinking no matter if we get 717 or 737's etc. The fourth floor is bent on shrinking to profitability. Gloopy has illustrated many times why this strategy is flawed long term. And on that note we should not use any "negotiating capital" to get 717's. Certainly we wouldn't trade scope for them?? That would be asinine!!!
It's the pool.....blame the pool.

This is a balance sheet transaction vs. profit/loss statement. They do not go hand in hand.
