Timbo;

On the 777, that has been the case, but those times are changin. Disallowed swaps in may for us too due to reserves.

Now I know that doesn't sound too committal, but how do you state it better.

There are a lot of moving parts...folks with frozen pension, the tiers of PC's from the pbgc, the stagnated narrow body Capt, the stagnated older FO, the older junior FO, the young former RJ pilot- now RJ is a disease - pilot, and a hundred other flavors.

We have had to adapt to lower pay for a long time. Some have cultivated other careers/jobs, some sold their toys and sucked it up, etc.

My only advice is: don't just look at section 3 payrates. Sure, look at it, but be a scope hawk, look at the work rules etc. Whatever TA is released to the pilots will be salespitched by DALPA...BE YOUR OWN EXPERT.
I don't need to be preached to. I will vote no unless 20% and scope changes. I'm saying a TA comes and everyone you fly with says it won't pass and it passes. Example why did we vote in the last TA after we got NW. It was the same TA we just got and DALPA told us we would get a better deal once NW was with us and DALPA brings us a TA with the same stuff with just minor gains. Green Slip and SC from 8 to 6. Vote that down. Its passed. Thats what scares me.

They can afford to fly those 380's all over the world, at 50% capacity, with the price of jet fuel in the Middle East. What is it up to now, $0.50/gal of Jet A?

Add insult to injury, isn't EK subsidized by the Royal Family/Government? I'm unaware of this fact, just asking out of curiosity?

I wasn't preaching. I was writing as much for the lurker as I was for the regulars.

There can be no shortage of union "teaching" or we will never learn. How do you learn except to ask questions and get answers.

BTW I think you are setting your bar low on pay.

No, maybe they will help vote down a TA. See example above.

Just talked to them....because the trip is one day longer and comes back on a day that reserves required = reserves available they deny it. Every other day of the trip has mega reserves available. I'd be operating a trip that essentially alleviates them of possibly one reserve being called and its denied. Whudda thunk?
