Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Can you elaborate as to the standard quota of walk arounds that constitute a "share"?
This thread is starting to turn into a first officer entitlement gripe fest--when it's not operating as the commuting pilot gripe fest. It seems indicative of the people we have hired since 9/11.
I'm game.
Can I tell my stories of F/Os who show up 20 minutes prior to push on leg #1, and the first words out of their mouth are "did you do the walk around?", or perhaps those who miss a crossing restriction and then blame the "piece of ___ airplane", or the ones who can't listen to the radios on a consistent basis--as they are busy griping about their job, or the ones who cannot put together a decent descent profile--which again is the airplane's fault.
Just trying to keep it real guys. If you ain't getting your walk around or layover love, maybe you should look in the mirror, or just keep on griping anonymously--your choice.
BTW, lest somebody try the red herring--I split the walk arounds regardless of weather, I buy the beer and usually the food--when I actually have a decent layover (a rarity these days), and every so often I anonymously buy a random table's dinner in the restaurant as well.
Why would you get bent out of shape with the 1/10 captains who don't "do their share"?

but on the flipside I have gotten the short call from scheduling for a trip that was right at 1 hour to show. in fact 3/3 of my last callouts on sc were for go's either at 2 hours or 2:30 hours. the worst was a deadhead at 2 hours. fun stuff.
each time "they'll wait for you and I'll let your captain know." I got to the plane 10 to go, no interior, exterior preflight, no logbook check, nuttin done. Got the accusatory where have you been? I said quickly while putting my bag in that scheduling called 2 hours ago. He had no idea what that meant and it had to be explained during cruise but he basically wanted to call me out for lying and not doin my job and it was a rough first leg.
Like the 88, I don't care. But twice in my 3 or so years of purposeful reserve on the 88 I've gone late off a short sc due to insufficient notice. both times the Captain had been at the plane over 30 min prior and nothing was done. I wont blame the A, we can blame scheduling for not giving a hea... actually, take that back they did on the first one two years ago on Christmas morning. But we can still blame scheduling, I think we can all be fine with that.
As a RJ Captain I did a lot of walk arounds for the same reason I do them today, exercise.

Might have made a wrong turn somewhere brake, there ain't that kind of money here.
FTB, I began SC several months ago at 6 AM. Just happened to check my schedule at 7 AM, and it said I had a report time of 8 AM. No call from scheduling. Got there as fast as I could, my crashpad is 10 min from the airport, signed in at 7:59. Didn't call scheduling about it, but was very ticked.

On a side note, it appears that a DC-9 blew a motor in ATL today. Sounds like they left engine parts down the runway.

brake, i get what you're saying. And all of us who have been Captains know that despite flying with your favorite Captain, yourself, bad FOs really can ruin a trip. When I was on the ER I really saw how rough it could be for good Captains dealing with some FOs camping out in the right seat.

I've had a few times in the past when I was called in on short call at the last minute and each time the Captain had done everything while telling me to take the time to get settled in. Not saying your experience doesn't happen, but I like to think most captains aren't that quick to throw their FOs under the bus.
Personally the way I am, the more someone tries to rush me, the more I take my time.
I think the majority of guys are willing to just get the job done back up their fellow crewmember.
Don't think we should turn this into a FO vs Capt thread because of that existing 1% of guys that like to either show up late and not share the workload.
