Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

DAL-S guys, lets review:
FOM 7-8.3, PA Quiet Hours.
PA Quiet Hours
Between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (local), the PA should only be used for:
• Announcements required by FAR or company policy.
• Originating and terminating stations, or at stations where a large number of passengers board.
PAs not related to safety should be avoided when a significant number of passengers are sleeping or when the in-flight movie is in progress. PA quiet hours should also be in effect for flights greater than 5 hours between the top of climb and the top of descent. Normally during this period, only PAs related to safety should be made.
So, as a lowly FO I will not stop anyone from breaking this policy. I cannot stop it because I am sure there is a FOM policy out there that says "shut up and throw the gear... and on the 88 please get the hydraulics, ART switch, check the pressurization, turn the A/C up and throw the engine sync to N1. Thanks."
But all I am saying is that at 6am, or 615 in the a.m. when that airplane hits top of climb NOBODY in their right mind wants to hear a word from you unless we're going to crash AND there is a chance they'll live IF they do whatever you say. If there is a 100% chance it'll turn out poorly, let em' sleep.
They do not want to hear a "welcome aboard," "thanks for flying Delta" "today's route of flight..." "the weather enroute..." "the weather at our destination..." "UH... UH..." "our gate of arrival..." "when you see the fasten seat belt sign..." "we here at Delta" AND ESPECIALLY "I'll check back with you before we begin our descent (in reality, 20-30 minutes) to update you on the weather and the gate (in case it changed in 20-30 minutes)."
I mean honestly, I'm not saying your PAs suck, in fact they can be very informative and good and there are many that need to learn to start doing PAs, but at 6am, they're asleep. They have drool coming out of their mouths at this point, they're babies are asleep and they're so thankful because otherwise they'll wake up all of the other sleeping people and the list goes on.
Sincerely and with much love on this slow thread night,

I just deadheaded back from ATL last week and I only heard one PA from the pilots. It was about 2 seconds long and was to tell us to buckle up because the seatbelt light was back on. It was a great flight. The PA's that I actually hate the worst are the ones where the FA's go over EVERY single drink and snack option TWICE. I want to go back there and smack them over the head with the phone so they will shut up.
I was ready to choke a hoe.

I think most crews are pretty good about this even without FOM guidance. The worst I ever had was on a 4 hr Southwest flight. I kid you not, the FAs were on the PA at least 2 of those hours playing games and singing. Yes, I said singing. It didn't help that the speaker was right over me and turned up a little too loud, but it was out of hand. It was so bad that when we got to our destination while waiting for our gate and the most enthusiastic FA asked if everyone wanted to hear more singing, people booed. Swear to God, she said too bad and started in with some number. If I hadn't been jumpseating I would have complained to the company. I had to sit there and take it like everyone else. I think some companies go too far out of their way to encourage employees to be individuals and 'enhance' the trip. I find WN to be guilty of this the most. I understand customer service can make a huge difference, but in this case the only people who enjoyed the charade were those who fly every 5 years. Frequent flyers know how it it's supposed to go down and just want to be left alone.

In every survey, all the pax want is an on time...out and in...a reasonable fare and semi pleasant employees.

So, what's up with ComAir flying ridiculously slow (those aren't my words, that was BOS center's yesterday)? Also heard of a flight being delayed at doors closed time because the windshield was dirty.
Seems like there is an informal work slow down.

I can't imagine this having much operational impact overall, but it sure can tick off your passengers, ATC, and your fellow aviators.
