The DPA says they're about 1,500 from a vote and they're double checking their numbers via a renewal drive. My bet is of the 1,500 necessary to get to the magic vote number a percentage of that will say "I'll wait to the TA," like you mentioned will keep them from reaching the point of a DPA vote prior to the TA.
Problem is there are many cards that are over 1 year old, and therefore not current. There is no guarantee people will renew their cards, so I'm not sure DPA is actually that close to a certification vote.

They have come up with a new slogan. This is from yesterday's MEC publication entitled "Touch & Go's":
In the midst of the industry’s constant evolution, we believe the Delta pilots may once again have an opportunity to succeed in a timely manner. With all of this in mind, your MEC concluded its recent meeting with a unanimous resolution, which read in part that:
“. . .the Negotiating Committee immediately begin to pursue a superior Pilot Working Agreement, achieved in advance of the amendable date, that justly compensates the Delta pilots for their contributions to the success of the Company.”
...It includes key facts, which support the premise that attempting to achieve a timely superior agreement is consistent with pursuing the best interests of the Delta pilots...
...and concluded that a strategy to achieve a timely superior agreement is fully consistent with protecting our interests in this area...
...if the MEC’s approach to concluding a superior contract prior to the amendable date is not working to the MEC’s satisfaction...
Our reps are stating that they (and we) want an industry leading contract. Our reps (and we) are stating THAT is the primary goal and they won't weaken that goal in the pursuit of speed. Our MEC clearly disagrees. The MEC says they can't deliver on industry leading. They can only deliver on "superior". Superior to what is of course, an unknown.

Yes there is...so why do you keep bringing it up? What part of my post above mentions DPA or even infers anything about an alternative union?

I don't think DPA will get a big push until after the contract.....if its successful, they'll go away; if its not, they'll have more then enough cards to supplant ALPA (IMHO). Guys are really keen to this contract resolution, at least the ones I fly with. If it goes south, katy bar the door.

Pay for Flying the "76 seat jets"
Not to bring facts into the equation (why confuse everyone) BUT I decided to look and see if there was that big a disparity in pay rates such that it would be uneconomical to fly those A/C at DAL:
I am going to assume that most CA will be 12 year pay (yeah, there may be some younger guys but let's look at the worst case) and let's say F/O's fall at 6 year pay (for DAL used the 2012 PWA rates and for our competitors the recent APC pilot pay survey):

Is Jet Blue that much more efficient than us that they can afford to pay their pilots more than us (similar to SWA 737s)? I think it's time to show mother DAL it is time to start flying Delta pax on Delta A/C with Delta pilots to protect the brand. Anyone who cares to please shoot holes in this as you please.
