Buckets will be 1-2 SC 3-5 SC & 6 or more.
SC will be assigned senior to junior for those requesting it, then inversely for those who have not requested it. However, if no one is asking for it, and the junior guy had done 3 while the senior guy has 2 then the senior guy will get the SC.

f. be converted to short call within days-of-availability groupings, in the following order: 1) in seniority order, among pilots who have submitted a yellow slip for conversion to short call and who have 0-2 short call credits.
2) in inverse seniority order, among pilots who have not submitted a yellow slip for conversion to short call and who have 0-2 short call credits.
3) in seniority order, among pilots who have submitted a yellow slip for conversion to short call and who have 3-5 short call credits.
4) in inverse seniority order, among pilots who have not submitted a yellow slip for conversion to short call and who have 3-5 short call credits.
5) in seniority order, among pilots who have submitted a yellow slip for conversion to short call and who have 6 or more short call credits.
Note: The Company will publish, by calendar day for each category, the targeted number and start time of short call periods based upon historic and projected requirements. Such targets are pre-month estimates only and operational requirements will determine actual short call periods

If you commute to reserve, and you don't get called on your first short call, you might want to be able to stay in base and sit SC #2, and #3 without having to go home in between though....

Not at all. Just pointing out to ACL that his sympathy and justification aren't needed in this instance and goes unrequited in any event.
The Captains at Delta are very easy to be FO's for & work with. As for walk arounds, did them during my eleven years in the left seat as well and for 25+ years of owning and maintaining my own airplanes. Like to see what I'm flying. Bad weather, maintenance and charter flights make me even more curious.
In general terms, it is likely that new hires are going to come on board with a different attitude about senior guys in general. While they didn't vote for us to lose our pensions, we did vote to outsource their jobs and upgrades.

Thanks for the offer but I am currently a 737B in LAX. Although to be honest I don't know how much longer I will in this category - the trips absolutely bite!
