We need to quite waiting for this 100 seat jet, and fight for what is in front of us. It is part of reason we have lost so much scope.

That was the original reason why they didn't want the 195.. no short term leases.

There needs to be a pretty good deal on those as well.... the cost of starting up a training program and mx program for a single fleet type for short time is very expensive.

I found it amusing - like Zax in their Trax. There are only a handful that meet that criteria anyways....

As a junior pilot at Delta it REALLY disturbs me to have people like reddog think it's okay to continue to lose mainline flying. In general, the 50-65 age generation is undoubtedly the MOST selfish generation ever! They reaped the benefits and achieved the "American Dream", and now, do everything they can to hold it hostage for themselves.
It's time for this to end. Our country/economy/career's has been SCREWED UP enough by this "ME,ME,ME" generation. Truly a shame what WE have become. Do to the INEPT and SELFISH old guard. Truly a shame.
SCOPE/Section 1 is MY/OUR generations’ battle. CALL YOUR UNION REP AND LET THEM KNOW YOU WILL NOT LOSE THIS BATTLE.

I agree, and we have discussed this at length.

It is the whole reason they pushed the 76 seat jet on DALPA during 1113C. It was a lot easier for them to pay the payments, sign contracts, and give the jets to another risk sharing partner, than take a risk on those jets themselves.
2012 is still a long way off to start replacing your 100 seat jet. Marketing wants one now. I hope the 9 can hold on that long....

If the C series jet comes to Delta, it will be outsourced to DCI. Our union and management will make sure of that. I have very little faith in our MEC to protect that flying. It's the reality of the situation. The senior guys in the union don't care about us pukes at the bottom. I would be very surprised to see that jet at mainline.

I disagree 100%. This management and union team KNOW that doing that would cost more money that it could ever possibly save.

Add to that, the union has a 100 seat plan that many in the company agree with.
Do not give up on that. Ever!

The DC9 can hold on for another 20 years if they want it to. The upgrades to keep it going are pennies on the dollar compared to new 76 seaters. The deliberately propagated discussion of the 9 being retired in the next few years is being artificially construed in order to put the pressure on us to grant Scope relief because there is nothing else ready, and they need (want) to replace the 9 and think we'll cave on Scope. We (DALPA) are being played like a fiddle, and with the built in pre-merger prejudice towards our old airplanes it plays right into management hands.

What plan? We've been flying them profitably at N for years. S did too until they gave them away to AT.

This "plan" makes it sound as if they have just discovered that 100 seat flying at the mainline can be profitable when it might not have been otherwise. I don't like what that infers......

Easy...... Remember, we're trying to build bridges here to accomplish our goals, not erect obstructions. Let's help inform our pilot group and move forward as a united group.

Respectfully,
TC
