Don't be that guy or girl. Unfortunately today, I got to listen Capt Douche pontificate about his Navy career to include a list of the ships he served on and the aircraft he and his Air Force F/O had flown. During his PA, the passengers kept looking at the other uniformed crew members with the question in there eyes as to why is this tool giving us his resume. If his was you today on the XXXX am, MSP to ATL flight, STOP IT! Noboby cares about your resume....... You are making a fool of yourself.
As a veteran, I appreciate your service, but PAs like this have to stop.

I hate to ask, but do you have any idea if the guy was an LCA? Only reason I ask is because, from the right seat, I've seen this twice and both times the CA was an LCA. Don't get me wrong, Captains, it's your PA. Say what you want to say. I've just noticed a (admittedly small) pattern, and I wonder if there's some guidance from above to "personalize" the crew. I flew with an LCA last month that made a lengthy PA right after the pre push acars detailing his background, my background, all the FAs names, and various aeronautical minutiae (by the way, when you tell people you're flying over Dryer, OH, they don't have any idea what you're talking about. Take a minute to consult a map and realize the big city on Lake Erie is actually called Cleveland). Since the pre push acars is my cue to go pee, I got multiple opportunities to see our HVCs looking either glazed over or downright annoyed during the PA. As a pilot, I couldn't care less about the case the guy in 1B successfully litigated or the buyout the lady in 22D just facilitated. I'm quite sure they care just as little about my CV as I care about theirs. And leave my name out of the PA. It's nobody's business.

I believe you flew with an ATL M88 Captain who is well known and I think this has been turned in but he still does it. From what I understand if one passenger out of 142 or so, comes up and says "that was great" then it was worth it to hime.

"Me? Well, I learned to fly in college. Well sort of, I was drunk a lot. It took me forever to get through training. After I graduated I bought 200 hours of right seat time on a Beech 99. I then flew for Trans States but got furloughed. I applied to GoJet but wasn't hired. So I took a job flying a Apache for a Mile High Club operation, its not as exciting as you think. It was most man-on-man, at best old swingers. it went out of business though. I realized then, i need to get a real job. Id been flying for 15 years but really was just chasing girls and hanging out at bars, crashing on my buddy's couch until he got married then I moved back home with the folks to save money. But thats okay, when my girlfriend turned 18 we got married, legally, so that was worth it to move back home. Otherwise, I'd never married my buddy's little sister. I have a girl next door thing. So anyways, I needed job when she turned out to be prego, so I borrowed some money and bought a 727 type rating and went to a Women in Aviation conference. I know I'm a guy, but hey got an interview with Delta and here I am. Why do you ask?"

Tighten that windsor knot!! Button that coat!!! And put your hat on!!! Tuck in those pajamas and get rid of that pppledge pin!
I'll see you at the stable tonight and every night and without that pppppledge pin!
I love long PAs about the pilot's flying background especially on a 5 am commute. I like it when they say turbulence, danger, critical and emergency a lot.
Its a ride, I dont care, I dont listen anyway.
OK.. I can take a hint... no more PAs.

Good God...that makes me pine for the days where the guy in the left seat gave the brief the first day "SOPA/SMAC, K?", and that was the long version.

But then you would forget Mr. Train Whistle, Mr. attempt to clean his freshly caught trout in the DC-9 cockpit, Mr. walk on his hands down the aisle pre boarding, aww the memories...

And since when did everyone get SJS? It's like the secret argument for recapturing RJ flying is how good you'll look in the left seat of that RJ. I know I will.
