And if that happens, then the scope clause has to come with it. It's a nonstarter if it doesn't. And I don't mean a take back or % reduction in DCI, I mean SWA scope.

0 outsourcing.

so while yes we would be incredibly overstaffed with the new rules, maybe the new flying would take care of that to the positive.
Exactamundo!

T...you have to think on this more. SWAPA's scope doesn't allow for ANY domestic flying to occur by anyone but a SWAPA seniority list pilot. That would mean our pilots would be flying over twice the amount of domestic flying we do now because we currently outsource over half of our domestic flying. That increase in flying would create such a massive wave of upgrades that nobody currently on our list would have to be on reserve unless they chose to be.

Be reasonable. I'll start posting Gator football pictures if you don't rethink your position!!

Hmmmm, since SWA screwed the airtran guys into signing. Does this mean that if we get a deal on the 717's that no pilots will come with them? How many 737 will we give up to make the deal happen? No more 50 seat RJS, cant have any more 70 and 76 seat either huh?

Somehow I feel this is not going to workout they way I hope.

Just sayin

Nice little graphic from Motley Fool (who seems to be changing their tune on DAL stock):

I don't believe their scope is sustainable. they just announced they are not gonna make money in Q1. They are not gonna grow organically anymore. There is no more low hanging fruit for them to pick. Something will have to give because the shareholders will throw management to the curb if they do not make money. That scope clause is gonna be a noose around their necks in the not too distant future, or they are gonna have to pay dearly to keep it. I agree that what is going on at DAL sucks wrt outsourcing. I also agree with a certain gold bug poster on the ALPA board that says this isn't worth the negotiating capital. The elephant in the room is international scope.. NOT RJs. International scope is the issue.. NOT domestic.

And as to your contention about upgrades and reserves, that is absurd. there will ALWAYS be somebody on reserve, and no amount of insourced flying would guarantee that because of the retarded pay system that will prevail yet again, we don't have enough 777/747s to guarantee everyone a line holder slot.

I would doubt they would be coming. Why would they? Of course if it means a near term downsizing at SWA, then you can draw your own conclusions. SWAPA got what they wanted, and didn't have to fire a shot.
