Never had that happen with hard time, only credit issues. I'd call and see what's up. If they don't help, the ALPA scheduling guys do a great job sorting out what is happening and will help you out if it's not right. However, I ususally find out that 95% of the time the company is right.

In good scope news- there is more upgauging to mainline going on. I just found FAY overnights in the 320 April bid pack. I didn't even know where that was! (Fayetteville, NC)

Add this to all the TUL, OKC, OMA, ROC and others being upgauged and that is a good trend vector.
Wow! The 320 is actually taller than the terminal in FAY. Be interesting to see how far they can flex the jet bridge up...

Pick the cleanest hotel near a passing Subway and a licensed tattoo parlor and you're probably doing ok for the area.

Unfortunately, this simplly isn't true. This is not the Delta management of Dave Garrett and prior. Subsequent management sees pilots as the same commodities as the seats, even though they still use the "family" and "you're the best of the best" words in pilot indoc.

They couldn't care less how many of their pilots leave. Experience and even service doesn't mean as much to them as cheapness. The fact that over 50% of our domestic capacity is outsourced to outside bottom feeders who proudly display our Delta brand, is proof.

I was doing a little math with all this talk about getting paid more in the bigger jets because they fly more people. So in a typical month

747
80 hr month. Average flight say 8 hrs, probably longer, but bear with me. That is 10 total flights. Full jet 393 passengers gives us 3930 passengers moved that month by that pilot.

MD-88
80 hr month. Average flight say 2 hrs as I've seen 4 leg days on them. That is 40 total flights. Full jet 142 passengers gives us 5680 passengers moved that month.

Of course that doesn't take into account the disparity of the price of the ticket for each flight.

Carl;
I would say it is indisputable proof. However, I would separate flt ops mgmt from top mgmt in this regard, not that it ultimately matters. The final conclusion is the same because of the heirarchy.

Default Rome

I'm headed to Rome in a couple of days. Any gouge on the best way to get from FCO to the Hotel Londra Carigill?

Thanks, TC

You have to take into account the miles flown.

passenger seat miles+cargo lb miles = productivity.

Where the 88 has it, hands down, over long haul is currency. Every long haul pilot struggles with maintaining currency. It takes a couple months to nail down a procedural change (like the flaps command) where a domestic pilot has it down after one trip. On the 777 we say "it takes 4 pilots to get it off the gate." There is a lot of truth in that.

Spot on Carl.... and ALPA doesn't seem to care. Had Lee on my jumpseat and in the back of my aircraft prior to giving up scope in 2005-2006, asked him specifically about this, then once angain at the big pilot rally in ATL. So words don't matter with my union, actions do.... I've heard it all and got the handshake.....

Actions speak louder than words.......
