As for scope, our MEC signaled its intent clearly when it voted to "reorganize" the Compass pilots outside our MEC's representational structure.

Those increases would raise the pay of a typical housekeeper to $59,823 per year, from $46,337 today, said John Turchiano, a hotel union spokesman.

Trust me, It makes me cringe also. On the Dalpa forum one of the longest threads was about the hat. This forum also saw a large number of uniform and hat posts shortly after the merger.

I'm looking at something more recent, like the last decade. 20 years ago they also had very cute FAs, but those around back then are still around today, and aren't as cute. Do you always look back 20 years at every analysis? The last 10 years have been good for SWAPA.
SWA Pay is now relatively good. Our Pay sucks. Until 2005 - DAL Pilots were making a ton more than SWA Pilots.
The rest of the industry was lowered. SWA did not magically rise above everyone else. Throughout their history Pilots have left SWA for legacies until 911. Now that trend has reversed - what will it been in 10 years? You are taking a "snapshot" and assuming it is and will be the status-quo. Things may look very different in 10 or 20 years and if you have or plan a thirty year career that is very important.
Just to be clear - I am for a robust DPA vs DALPA discussion and think the DPA has a lot of potential. Maybe just the valid thrat of the DPA may impact the section 6.

Just think, DPA probably would've gotten you a nicer hotel, more quickly, and more efficiently than even the D-ALPA hotel committee!

P.S. For all those too wound around the axle to take the above statement as nothing more than "jest on a Saturday morning", lighten up.
Watch:
You know for a uniform, it's a good one. I don't mind wearing it. If I did only one leg a day I'd wear it in the summer. I hate short sleeve with a tie. I went years wearing a leather coat and no hat as an RJ pilot, now I don't want to look like an RJ pilot anymore. I never once wore my Coex coat, just the 200lb leather jacket that made you sweat to death in the EWR terminal where they turn the temp up to 90F. I swear I'd walk through the terminal with my coat on and then do a walk around in the snow without it just to cool off. But our uniform? It's nice to have a throw back to the days where the industry was more civil.
And as to the hat, it is weird to wear it inside a building but it's weirder looking to walk around with it on your bag. Especially if you have good hair. Because if you have good hair and you aren't wearing your hat, then it's obvious you are worried about messing up your hair. Dude, who are you? Sammy Malone?
And the idea of walking around with it unbuttoned? What the heck? But, as my wife does with me, I'm not going to say anything to anyone- want to look like a fool, go for it. I ain't stopping you, I frankly don't care (unlike my wife). But I'll wear mine the way it was supposed to be.
There.

I'm done trying to tame the DALPA/DPA stuff on this thread, haha. If the other mods want to help me out, they can...but I'm the only one it seems lately and it's just not worth the effort.
FWIW, the DPA guys are showing a stronger and stronger presence in ATL. 90% of the guys I fly with have their cards in as well as more and more people that I know personally that I run into ops.
Some want to boot ALPA now, most are like me and want to see how the opener is. Not showing the opener to the masses will easily be worth another 500+ cards I would estimate.
I've got a couple friends that are rather high up at ALPA National, if you catch my drift. He is pulling the same crap there that he did at DALPA and it is driving them crazy. One of them went so far as to say he understands how the DPA movement got started at Delta now, and why I put my car in.
