What's the deal with the uniform survey? Should this really be an issue now?
I hope we don't waste one second of negotiations or one cent of possible restoration attempting to modify the uniform. Questions like, "should we replace the coat with a windbreaker?", "should we be allowed to leave the coat unbuttoned?" , "would you like a leather jacket?". Of course there's something about the hat.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't believe this is what bothers us. For the right price, I'll wear a clown suit.
Sorry if this has been discussed earlier - didn't have time to skim the last 30 pages of dalpa/dpa arguments.

+1
I could not agree more. We have bigger fish to fry than sending out a servey that deals with uniforms and hats. The survey should have asked more important questions concerning pay, scope, insurance, reserve, retirement and other quality of life issues.
I can only wonder how much time and money was spent on such a worthless survey to the pilot group. ALPA should have thought this one thru a little better.

And now for something completely different...
I'm sitting at the gate in CVG, waiting for my commuter flight. Across the airport, at the GA ramp, is a Southwest 737. Does anyone have any intel on this?
What in the hell? This is important why?????? I think I've clicked on every "it's fine, leave it alone."
The FOM states that the uniform jacket will be worn buttoned at all times. Would you prefer a change to the FOM so that you had the option to wear your uniform jacket either buttoned or unbuttoned?
Yes

News flash: the new long layover hotel in Philly rocks! A very nice surprise after yet another brutal red eye. Well done DALPA! Or Delta, or whoever is responsible. Very nice!

I'm looking at something more recent, like the last decade. 20 years ago they also had very cute FAs, but those around back then are still around today, and aren't as cute. Do you always look back 20 years at every analysis? The last 10 years have been good for SWAPA.
Bill, You ignore how SWAPA got where they are. After DALPA moved the curve way up with 737 Pay at 235 an hour SWAPA got the first big pay raise ever for their pilots. The brought their rate all the way up to 190 an hour. Over the last 11 years since then they have averaged about a 1 percent a year raise even though they worked for the most profitable airline in the US.
Why they kept their rates when others failed to do so is simple. They never filed bankruptcy. Their management went to the casino and placed a 5 billion dollar wager and won! They skipped the entire fuel crises as a result. Hard to ask for pay cuts when your making huge profits. The management team at Delta on the other hand lost 5 billion dollars with 3 key mistakes. The purchase of ASA and Comair, 2 billion dollar stock buy back and selling owned fuel hedges. Thats a 10 billion dollar swing between Delta and SWA.
I know somehow you will try and make that 10 billion dollar swing DALPA fault but sadly it was not. In the end the success of DALPA should be measured by what they salvaged from a near death situation. Overall we came out of this far better then any other airline in history that has faced a similar situation. You can choose to ignore the entire last decade and again blame everything on DALPA however reality tells a much different story.

If any of you homos touch my stuff I'll ...
Enough of the a$$less chaps and thongs.
The uniform survey is a sleight of hand tactic used by magicians...if you cannot see it for what it is. Do not look at the uniform survey, instead, watch what DALPA is doing with their other hand.

If it was, and I don't doubt you Sailing, those bases are getting lost in the morass that is a contract negotiation. If you fight every battle to win, you lose the war. Hat vs. pay? Jacket vs. scope? Really?
I'm starting to think of things I wish I had said on the survey.
First, why do we want to look like regional pilots?
Second, (I wish I talked more about scope).
