Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

You guys probably think I'm crazy, but I keep a log and I record pax loads. For the past two rotations (two 4-day trips), we've had max capacity except for one early morning flight ... 20 empty seats out of 142.
Yesterday in DFW, we left a whopping 72 non-revs at the gate, and every seat in the airplane was full (no non-revs on the aircraft) with 8 infant in arms. It was crazy.

The FA's are staying in ATL this week with their friends. Thank god they found someone to watch the cats.....

As for the fall of another airline. It looks like LLC is getting close. It appears that their book are not how it seems.
For some reason our management thinks that they or UAUA are not long for this world. That bodes well for the pilots. Because of this firm belief they will keep a lot of people on they do not need so they can react very quickly with a almost overnight capacity increase.

IMHO, if they are moving it, it is because of further guidance on the required training and when it will need to take place. This SOC or at a time when they can have a joint bid.
I know people do not want to hear about it, but it makes sense for everyone but the DAL guys that are going to get bumped, me being one of them.

I know they will, but at what interest rate is the key question.

acl65pilot: I'll grant you that they might have difficulties, but big airlines these days just don't fail. There always seems like someone will come along and prop a failing up, if only so the can continue to sell fuel, airplanes or regional flying to them (aka IAGblog: USAirways - will they or won't they? from 2005 )

I agree with iaflyer, when is the last time you saw a big airline go out of business? All they seem to do is drag the heathier carriers down with them and then they, too, declare bankruptcy. Now, I know credit is hard to find these days but I have a hard time thinking that any major carrier is going out of business any time soon. My guess is the "gubmint" will step in if that is what it takes. I guess we'll see what happens!

Probably open a can of worms here with the questions because the aircraft you're on probably does both.

Didn't the Whitlow interpretation apply to domestic operations only? Or is there a separate reserve and some guys would be good for a domestic trip only and other would be good for an int'l trip only?

Whitlow is only for domestic, so for the second half of your 24 hours, you're pretty much only eligible for international.
I think he was referring to 5am short call to have someone available to cover domestic IROPs that morning, since the SC from the day before has Whitlowed out.
