"Why are you complaining, your flying a very popular airplane, it's not going anywhere"

-As far as I know we don't come w/ the airplane, and I thought ALPA represents pilots not airplanes. He then turns his back to us in a very rude way, which tells us how he feels about us and our cause. Every time I've asked our union reps about the CPZ issue they turn their heads away and avoid the question. I've never had a direct answer given to this situation.
hence the disconnect and the problems. If thats how he feels than its a problem. When ou have some saying "thats not how he feels, its just a rumor" and others who've personally heard him say these things, theres a problem. the union needs to set the record straight and put the "fire" out if thats not the case. Unfortunately, with the number of people who've personally heard him speak and say these things its hard to say thats not what he really means

Outsourcing OUR careers is never acceptable whether its at te top or the bottom! Thats what scope relief does and if the MEC doesnt see that then theres a huge disconnect that needs to be fixed. I'm all for working with mgmt but IF stuff like that is said then it points to him wanting to solve mgmts problems before ours!! We can fill our own planes but We've enabled mgmt to fill them with NONE Delta pilots. that needs to reverse trend.

Ok, don't mean to change the subject, but is anyone having trouble with the new travelnet? I logged on for the first time today and am trying to look at availablility. I get the screen to check, fill in the blanks and then get the muted screen and the "please wait while system searches......etc." But nothing ever pops up!! Any ideas?! Thanks,

Denny

I had that happen the other day - I just closed the TravelNet page and logged in again, worked fine.

On a side note, I think it's ugly and uses the whole screen to show just a little bit of information.

And its true - If you are a 777 Captain, RJ's are good for you. The rest of the Captains, not so much. The FOs - Sorry, you F%@Ked up - you trusted us.

Carl,

I agree with you that it would probably take a while to change ALPA and that ALPA in its present state sucks. But, I also believe that bigger is better. Unfortunately, ALPA does not use its size to do anything. They seem to only want to get bigger for the sake of getting bigger and not to ever "get" anything for its members.

If we could get some new leadership at the National and MEC levels and take politics out the mix, it would go a long way.

The main reason I say this is because of this:

AIR Conference - Airline Industrial Relations Conference

Our employers seem to have a legal way to conspire against us for every negotiation. Within this conference, they have the ablity to whip-saw major against major, commuter against commuter, LCC against LCC, and every possibe combination in between.

Because of this, I think we as pilots need the lines of communication open between all the pilot groups. It would be nice if we could have someone that could use those lines to put together an effective strategy to advance the profession.

I've go to cut is short (stuff to do), but flame away.

And until we get rid of the people that say "the industry is different now, the market only supports so much, our p..sy's hurt," we will get nowhere. The companies increase fares for fuel and such, but NOOOO we can't raise fares $5 so the entire crew can have a substantial quality of life improvement. I'm making basically 1999 wages. Is RA making the same that Ron Allen made?

DALPA is not going to achieve crap alone. LM needs to spend 70% of his time with UAL's MEC, APA, CO, etc and quit playing "we know better than you." WE need to raise our quality of life from an industry, not our local MEC as it won't work, period. We may get a short term improvement like C2K but then we get the likes of AA "taking it back" the wrong way.

Lee: Go meet with other labor groups! Spend the $200+/month I give ALPA to set up these meetings. If that gets done, Lee will achieve the status he so desires.

Oh wait, I do that already. (Both engines and APU on taxi out and in) The DC-9 gets hot in the summer.

Well our fuel hedges are starting to look a lot smarter now. The companies that made money in Q1 & Q2 because they were not hedged because they had no cash won't be so fat in Q3 & Q4 with the rising fuel prices.

On another note, can anyone translate the the aircraft codes? Whats a NW9 and a CP7 or what's the difference between a M80 and a M8I? Why are some flights pinked out?
