How so? I am on reserve just about every month. I am in an over-staffed category. Hardly anyone on reserve with weekends off was flying more than 4 days.

Hockey,

You must be bummed - we all know how much you love the new reserve system.

I'm sure im telling you things you already know but if you have been around as long as you say you have you could hold a line in bases besides NYC...might not be on the 7ER but hey we all have to make choices. I held every holiday off last year. Some on RSV and some with a line and I've only been here since 2010. Of course I'm wasting away in the dreaded 9 but hey quality of life was good so i stayed put.

These contract jobs and places like EK and their total pilot package need to be where we are aiming.

FWIW, a EK pilot pay 60 bucks a month for medical for his spouse. It is full coverage. No deductible etc. These guys do nothing cheap, and are making 2 bln a year. The only break they are getting is that they do not pay landing fees in the UAE. They buy their jet A from Singapore. I want to start looking at these compensation packages.
Oh wait our management is reading this? everyone B!!ch away then

No worries, since you won't have a paycheck, either.

When I was at Atlas back in the day we had 20% annual turnover. Trust me, management doesn't care.

I've held a line next month for only the second time in almost four years so I'm a newbie. Why is it that we can't swap a trip with a trip in open time that is higher credit if reserves are below mins? The trip I'm swapping with is the same amount of days, just higher credit, but the PWA reads that we can't swap if reserves are below mins. Am I reading this correctly and what's the logic behind it? I'm picking up more flying. Doesn't make any sense.

Do the days all overlap exactly? If so, call crew skeds and plead your case and they might do it for you. If the overlap is different by more than one day though you're probably hosed because no matter what you do, you create an extra deficit on at least one day based on what you're describing and they won't let you do that.

Even if the days overlap exactly and the end result for the company is less of a deficit on some days still be prepared to be denied.

Are you trying to swap a trip on your line NEXT MONTH? (March) If so, next month's PCS (swaps, white slips, etc.) runs do not start until the 20th of -this- month. And as mentioned by Gloopy, if it's the exact same days, it should go through, regardless of reserve coverage.

Also remember, any trip that spills out into a following month won't get swapped until that next month's bids/swaps are run...which is a huge PITA. ie. if you are trying to swap something at the end of March that spills into April, you'll have to wait until March 20th to do it!
