Two airlines ago we had AM trips and PM trips. Some like morning flying and being done early in the day, some the other way around. Better on the body clock as well when daily show times are kept consistent. I know this only helps commuters on one end coming or going but overall I think this stikes a good balance and is safer. Build efficient three day trips that a commuter can bid in pairs. In base guys historically like three day trips as well. With some massaging it could work.

I think that is all any of us have ever asked for.
When you think about it, a commutable schedule actually hoses the commuter to a certain extent and why you can't focus on JUST late departures and early returns. As I said in another post, most of us look for the biggest bang for the buck, ie the highest value trip in the fewest days. To do that, you lose out with a late departure and/or an early arrival. OR, you have to have an extra day out like the old NWA schedules did it. I'll take an early departure with the corresponding hotel if it's what I want to do and it's got good "worth".
All any of us want is balance. Ok, and beerable layovers
I'll catch the rest of the debate later, got to take momma for anniversary dinner.........35 years with the same woman, how is that for one of the bigger Narcissist you've ever met.

You don't want to move, for whatever reason, that's just fine. Just don't expect to improve your quality of life at my expense.
If I get displaced again and decide not to move there, I won't expect the guys who live in my new base to take a kick in the junk just to accommodate me.
