I think it is: You can drink them pretty, but you can't drink them rich.
If you drink soju, you can drink yourself rich. I think it is the 2nd stage. 1. I am handsome. 2. I am rich 3. I am invisible. Timbo, don't try to get to stage 3 next month, because you are not really invisible.

So what is this soju thing you are speaking of and explain to me further how i can become invisible?
underboob.
underboob.
Haha!
Well, if you're gonna be up there for 19 hours, you might as well have some fun.
It must have been flown by a former Air Force pilot, though- Writing the company logo probably seemed like a "neat idea."
Had a Navy guy been at the controls we'd be looking at a two-thousand mile long phallus...

All the while going "that's what she said!!!" while drawing a big phallus across the US.
It'll likely be less funny in the morning after the beer wears off, but it's a funny thought for now.

Hey, I feel for you, but that's not my fight. And honestly, in your case it sounds more like a product of the equipment you desire to fly vs the equipment you could fly but with a better schedule. If it's sarcasm then OK, but sarcasm doesn't offer a reasoned and thought out counter to what I brought up. But maybe that's all there is for a rebuttal. That and seniority first and foremost above all else, no matter how it harms a fellow pilot.
First, I was being sarcastic. Second, isn't the part that I bolded pertain to a fair amount of those complaining about the new rules for reserve? Also, somebody has to be junior. I have also been consistently moving backwards in my seat and base. I understand what it is like to be the junior guy (I wore the red hat at the fNWA). Our entire system is built on seniority. Frankly, reserve should be a system whereby if there is one pilot junior to you that can do any of the trip, it should go to the most junior up until they time out.
Also, it is my understanding that the company and ALPA can change the bucket values on a monthly basis and this new process is only two weeks old. I am junior on my equipment and junior system wide so I get it. It sucks being junior but there are a few thousand pilots out there that wish they could be the junior guy/gal dealing with our issues. And no, I am not saying that we shouldnt voice our discontent or objections, but I just think it has been a little over the top lately.
Just an aside, for all of you guys *****ing about the new reserve rules. I ran into the #1 CA in LA today in the lounge. He bid reserve to essentially take the month off. He was on his second day of back to back SCs...and he commutes. So much for the senior guys getting over.
Give it a few months and see how it plays out. He didn't think it was so seniority friendly.

The seniority based short call I think will be a more noticable change for us reserve lifers.
Other than that it's life as usual and fly when called or do my best to grow something reminiscent of General Burnside. Same ol same ol.

Much has been made of the whining about displacements and reserve on the L&G thread lately. From Alpha's arrogance, to Nu's admonishment, to Sailing's explanations to Capt. Carl's condolences.
Scientists observed that when exposed to pain, people in all cultures cursed and wined. Further study demonstrated that people who cussed the most were able to endure a greater level of pain than those told to exclaim random non curse, non complaints.
Since the terms of service of this web site prohibit the use of the healthiest language to describe (and endure) the pain of four displacements, we should adopt a science based approach to griping, whining and moaning and encourage cathartic outbursts. Might even encourage this at the "We're making a ton of money and displacing your butt, 2012" management road show. "Here's a check for 4.8%, enjoy your 15% displacement pay cut, doesn't my hair look good "

In a repeated measures design, pain outcomes were assessed in participants asked to repeat a swear word versus a neutral word. In addition, sex differences and the roles of pain catastrophising, fear of pain and trait anxiety were explored. Swearing increased pain tolerance, increased heart rate and decreased perceived pain compared with not swearing. However, swearing did not increase pain tolerance in males with a tendency to catastrophise. The observed pain-lessening (hypoalgesic) effect may occur because swearing induces a fight-or-flight response and nullifies the link between fear of pain and pain perception.
