And your justification is.............. you live in base, so you get preference over senior guys who commute and want those trips, or guys senior to you who live in base and want those trips.

Bid the 9 or 88 then.

I think it is: You can drink them pretty, but you can't drink them rich.

If you drink soju, you can drink yourself rich. I think it is the 2nd stage. 1. I am handsome. 2. I am rich 3. I am invisible. Timbo, don't try to get to stage 3 next month, because you are not really invisible.

While that may be true, as a general rule, NO man works harder for his money, than the man who married it....

Look at the post after yours, and then a few more further down. Maybe not so apparent as you would like to believe.

The rules are in place to eject all the committee people, LEC reps, MEC hangers on... and all the rest of the entrenched people you love to hate. Heck, you have the power to pull the plug on their 87 hour "average" pay...you could even set it to zero.

It's right there, in black and white...published right on the MEC website. You have the means of FREE communication to oganize your little band of merry men...back in the day, the APA guys did it with long distance they had to pay for, and mimeograph machines that cost real money to operate.

You guys can't even put together a flash mob for the MEC meeting to tell them how you really feel because everyone is too busy with their side gig, home business, soccer practice, remodeling the den, or trimming the herbacious borders. So you reap what you sow, and have the nerve to complain about it when the very people you espose to hate poke you with a stick through the cage bars.

Real change requires real action, and not just a bunch of caterwalling on a free internet forum by a clutter of cats.

Man up, or sierra tango foxtrot uniform.

Nu
Good stuff right there!
I know we have stuff we need to fix but I get so sick of ppl that can't stop B1tching. I think maybe some of these people should put all this energy into fixing the problem and give up some of their APC posting time.
I always say if your not willing to give up your time to do the job dont complain about how someone else is doing it.
ALPA guys don't think I don't expect a good contract like the rest of the pilot group. Just like to say I appreciate your time.

The three-part bottom line is this:

1. This new system was created because that is what the pilots told their LEC reps, and thus the negotiators--over and over--that this is what they wanted. Do you fault the union for working out a new system with the company that reflects the "will of the pilot?"
Not that APC is the official counter, but I'd say I don't recall seeing a ton of gripping about seniority with the old system (read next sentence before you start typing). There were complaints about how PBS was used, Yellow Slip processing, short calls, seeing who's available throughout the month, and yes, some call for getting some more seniority back into the system (which was there before as much as people would like to say it wasn't existent at all). But I would say there's easily been as much of a call for correcting what's taken place since then. Plus, I doubt there was much of a demand for "give me a system where if I'm at 80 and the guy 600 jr to me is at 81 that I get assigned the POS trip I want to avoid like the plague." which is what we have that still isn't fixed (ref my last post on how that is fixed).

As it would with the changes many are saying are in order.

I'm not shooting it to pieces, but simply pointing out the absurdity of the bucket values as they currently stand (and apparently will from what I've been told). The other changes have been well received and reflect the great work the SOT did to get them implemented. While I think a stronger tweak would fix the point I made above about 1 point separating the buckets, I'm not suggesting the whole bucket system be scrapped right now. Simply shrink the bucket values.

Don't think anyone is suggesting that so no need to answer.

So what happened then? All the pilots who lived in Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania started bombarding the company with complaints!

No matter what the company or union does, there will always be naysayers.
So don't do anything? Thank goodness neither our reps nor management take this throw-hands-in-the-air-and-give-up-attitude, and actually appreciate the feedback. I'll repeat: The changes are good. I've said as much in several past posts. I'm recommending tweaking (which is what you said will take place with any new system)...sooooo, how about some tweaking? Jeez, allow some critical feedback without flipping out about it.

Duh.

It's more about the message it will send.

Yes, I'm aware of the 4000. I'm hitting the Dave Ramsey plan hard right now so I'll be ready if and when the time comes.

It must have been flown by a former Air Force pilot, though- Writing the company logo probably seemed like a "neat idea."
Had a Navy guy been at the controls we'd be looking at a two-thousand mile long phallus...
