I heard one of their pilots talking on the radio about their flight attendants, he didn't have that many good things to say but it does sound like there are some choice ones.

Hi Cubdrick,
I could never figure why anyone WOULD bid a yellow slip flying offer. What angle am I missing? What (if any) advantage is there to anyone--other than DAL--for even volunteering for a Y/S trip?

Usually it's because they see something good, someplace they want to layover and watch the Super Bowl, visit a friend, etc.

OR...they are worried something WORSE will pop up and they will get that instead. ie. if there's a sweet 2 day in the pot, and an UGLY 4 day, you put in the yellow for the 2day.

If you want to hit the ALV as a reserve it may the best way to do it. Once a reserve reaches the ALV & yanks the YS, they can no longer be flown for the remainder of the month.

There aren't many reasons, but I have been able to pick up a trip via yellow slip into my off days that got me to greater than ALV, which allowed me to take an extra week off. With manning where it is right now, chances of making that happen are slim to none. No YS's for me anytime soon.

A lot of guys do that to get Christmas, New Years Eve or Thanksgiving off. Fill up early and then stay home.

He didn't know what he was talking about. For the purposes of Carl, all SWA flight attendants are hot. They don't like cats, they buy beers for the crew on layovers, and they do the walkarounds when its raining or the temperature is below 70 degrees.

It's a no-brainer. I'm about to PM the grouch.

anyone commute out of BNA or CHA to atl? I'm thinking about choosing to commute since my base ain't here beyond April. I like Tennessee income tax, gun and homeschool laws. 10 flights a day on Delta in between ATL and BNA/CHA. tell me why I ought to pay Georgia income tax and put up with the traffic from Newnan. Have a great day.

Light bulb moment here. Thanks.

As a DC-9 guy, I fly to BNA quite a bit. CHA, not so much. I can tell you that not even once have I been so full/overweight that I had to leave a j/s pilot at the gate for any BNA-ATL flight that I have worked. I think that would be a good choice, IF you want to commute. I'm a 'live-in-base on-reserve kinda' guy. Reserve is good to me here at DAL.
Good luck w/ your decision.
