Here are some other complaints I have:

Senior people make more money than me, thats not fair.

Senior people get more vacation than me, thats not fair.

Senior guys get the trips I wanted, thats not fair.

We are in a seniority driven profession. That is how it's been since this industry started. The new system brings back some seniority to reserve. This is a good thing. This was fixed outside of section 6 negotiations. I think the new bucket system is a good idea and a good improvement that was relatively easy to implement.

There are more things that need fixing on reserve. You are right, higher reserve guarantee and definitely the same credit per trip lineholder vs reserve. But stop complaining about being able to exercise a little seniority on reserve!!!
Hope no one thinks my questions were meant as me not being happy about the new reserve system. I am very happy about it. Even though I'm very junior and at the top of my bucket, I see the benefits of the new system. I was just trying to get clarification because things weren't looking like what I expected them to. After some explanations though, it makes perfect sense. This new system is definitely a step in the right direction!

This. Seniority is more about the people behind you, than the people in front.

Exclamation DC9 trips, Much Suckage.

Man the MSP DC9 Trips S**k! Ok, I just needed to vent, but all the trips have some sort of DH in them, most start and end with a DH to/from ATL. (AP hates to DH on domestic flights) I was just checking in PBS and most DH to ATL and have 2:27 to 2:45 before the first flying leg, then on the last day (day 4 or 5) a short turn time prior to the DH out of ATL back to base. It's like they know, if there is a cloud in the sky anywhere in GA, AL or SC, your going to be late, but it doesn't matter, cause you are only DHing and they will give you a center seat on the next over sold flight, with that brat kicking the back of your seat all the way to MSP. I guess I will be bidding reserve next month.

Now on the glass half full side, If you commute, like some recently displaced Mem guys, now you have a positive space ride to and from work.

FWIW, I thought there should have been a better way to assign short calls, reserves should be paid the same as lineholders per trip, and the reserve guarantee should be ALV. I never complained about how trips were assigned. I am not a fan at all of the new system.
Hockeypilot, you're numbers must be wrong. The new system at worst should allow a reserve pilot to get 4 or 5 days of flying and a short call to move into bucket 2. Something must be wrong with your calculations (HEAVY Sarcasm).

You would have plenty (more) of seniority in the system with smaller buckets. Going to the point where a senior pilot sits all month while another pilot does 13 days of flying is even more flawed. As FTB has pointed out, there isn't this much disparity between junior and senior pilots when it comes to line holders.

I'm leaving and going to the er, so you can say I'm in the transition phase. I'll miss it though.
