Delta Studying US Airways as Possible Acquisition Target — sources.

By David Benoit WSJ

Delta Air Lines is now looking at making a run at US Airways Group, WSJ colleagues Gina Chon, Anupreeta Das and Susan Carey are reporting.

Delta, the world’s No. 2 airline by traffic, also has been assessing a similar move for much-larger American Airlines parent AMR Corp., the people have said. It is working with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as one of its financial advisers, along with Blackstone Group, the people said.

Delta sees itself as a consolidator in the airline industry and is studying several options, the people added.

Delta has not yet approached US Airways, the No. 5 U.S. airline, and is still weighing which deal if any would make most sense and have the best odds of success, the people familiar with the matter said. Delta’s last transaction was in 2008, when it acquired Northwest Airlines.

More details still to come.

I saw the same thing a while back and wondered about that myself. It's not because you're on MIL leave. When did we loose those passes?

Good, looked like the next "continue" button booked it, like a standard nonrev reservation.

Thanks, I'm off to try it! 20% off the Q fare from LAX wasn't that much cheaper than a direct flight out of PHX on Hawaiian (non refundable).

Thanks again,

Ferd

We've talked in the past about USAir breaking apart and us picking up the west side. Airbus, 737s.......and my wet dream, a PHX base

I know we are along way from that, but it's a possibility we all need to plan for. So, may I suggest, pay down your bills and set a little aside for a emergency/strike fund.

I am not trying to spread fear, just trying to pass along some advice giving to me by a wise captain many years ago.

Amish;

Your point is very good, not just for the possibility of a strike, but just a good way to live your life. Be debt free, don't buy anything you cant pay for with cash, have a couple of years pay saved, don't lease a new bmw, put a low limit on your credit cards (or get rid of them altogether), etc.

Saving and having cash without debt is an extremely liberating feeling. Sock away 30% of your pay every month automatically - before you see it. Before you know it you have resources.

In a sense, a strike vote says: "this situation is so bad, I am willing to walk away from this job." Personally, I'd walk over section 1 alone, everything else just heaps on top of that.

No more 737s on the West side. We could use their A321/20/19s, and some of their older 757s I suppose.

So I guess I should retire my "Keep Delta My Delta" button, and write my congressman back, explaining a merger with US is now a good idea? I was just kidding before.

Did not know that.........interesting.

Now that you mention it, it's always A320s when I commute on them out of PHX.

I think you can get 30% off if you don't want the mileage points? Isn't that right?
