It really is unbelievable. Our government and its agencies need a deep house cleaning to get rid of the corruption. Probably not going to happen any time soon.

To see how business is conducted in Washington every day watch this clip from a guy who got caught doing it. I believe people in our own union get sidetracked with their own immediate desires and the "justification" starts and its downhill from there.

Jack Abramoff: The lobbyist's playbook - YouTube

Has anybody else noticed Delta's lobbying money increase the past couple years. Also the ATA (oh yeah I forgot the new name "Airlines for America ) hiring people that recently worked "on the hill" in key departments, still friends with the lawmakers/staffers there.

I agree that whatever union we have needs a presence on capital hill. We need to cut the fat (ie money to regionals, money wasted on FPL internet bandits, oil paintings and all the silly stuff given to the ALPA leadership) and put more dollars toward hiring actual lobbyists to do business the way government does business as the video above illustrates. That's how you affect change now as proven by your very own Delta Airlines and AFA in dumbing down the FTDT rules.

Exactly! I love how we were told by our union a while back that even with these rule changes our pilot group is protected because the rules in the PWA still apply. Yet, what were we being asked in the contract survey? Answer (in so many words): How important are the current rest rules you enjoy in the PWA? (i.e. what are you willing to give up?). Not quite so sacrosanct as some would have you believe with the statement "We have these rules in the PWA so we're OK!"

FWIW, the NTSB Human Factors Investigators already do this. Whether the FAA might pick it up for enforcement action is a good question.

Depends on where you depart from.. Was just trying to make a lame example of a close to 8 hour turn. Should have used aua as it was blocked for 7:59 at certain times of the year and would have worked better.
