I digress.. this is seemingly a good codeshare because now we can connect the 20 passengers we have from New York (us) to Belo Horizonte (GOL). Now the question might be this: Are we protected if GOL flies from GRU to another country, are they then taking our widebody flying that we could have been doing from the US to (wherever)? Then again, this is no different than AF or KLM taking our pax from CDG/AMS to points beyond... scope?
I hear yah! But again, I have a very uneasy feeling about this. Especially GOL. I know, currently, there are rules but I have a feeling rules break and dissolve when a little money is thrown at them.

I'm not arguing that point at all.. I do not think however that GOL is nearly the threat that AF/KLM are in this regard. They are primarily a 737 carrier so I do not think we are going to lose the big city routes because pax can be connected thru Rio or Sao Paulo. I dunno.. at this point it is all speculation, and there is nothing we can do about it anyway.

I wish there was something we can do about it. I still have close to three decades worth of flying for Delta. I do not want to codeshare our flying away.

For now, I agree, GOL seems pretty docile with their 737s. But with our $$$ injection and their minuscule labor rates, WORK WILL FLOW TO THEM! It is just pure economics. I can see long range aircraft being flown by GOL (wether it be 737-900ers,A350s or the 2 767 we got from them (leaseback))..

This erosion, needs to stop. As far as AF/KLM, their labor costs are higher then ours, for now.

Can I now volunteer to go be a chief pilot or sim instructor or something like that? Would love to live in Brazil.

Aren't they supposed to convert folks (MD) in inverse seniority?

Were the destinations dropped because of the ability to connect people or because they were unprofitable in the current Europe economic collapse. Several of those destinations we have flown in the past and dropped before when we did not have the connection option. Berlin is a excellent example.
The other issue is a lack of airframes this winter with the lie flat mods.

Quick question (s):

If I am going into training Jan 1 and converting in Feb, do I need/want to bid?
or to bid for vacation?

What's the difference between the 22D2 and 22D3 report? I guess I'm not understanding Pilot Requirements vs Pilot Staffing.

Also, without a good bit of extraneous math, how do you figure out how many numbers up or down you've moved in category?

Thanks
