I use whatever headset is on the aircraft. Most use the speakers above 18k since the ER is fairly quiet. If you going to be doing a lot of domestic which is likely I would get a better personal headset. Global Entry is a must have if you will be out of NYC. Don't leave home without if you want to make your commuter flight back to home!!! Terminal 4 can be a real killer if you don't have it.

Just a question for the 7ER guys.
What is a commonly used headset on the fleet? The Telex 750?
NWA used to provide those, but I don't imagine that has been maintained since the merger. I'm wondering if I need to buy my own pair?
Also, would the 7ER guys on reserve recommend signing up for Global Entry?
Thanks in advance.

It is the expidited entry kiosk at Customs, which allows you to bypass standing the the sometimes very long crew line (ATL, early morning or late afternoon) and just get your 'ticket' from the kiosk and blow...if the kiosk is working that is!

Global entry is the best $100 you will ever spend. When you get stuck at T4 behind a M-R-Rats 380 crew getting photographed, finger printed and probably DNA tested, you will know why.

Global Entry is on my to do list but I haven't done it yet. Lots of ER trips (at least LA) have one more leg after the international entry so it's not as big a deal as say getting off a super premium WB and running for your commute (as someone else mentioned).
Enjoy the ER...........I left you some underboob hidden in the cockpit. You just have to find which jet and where before a female FO does
Your Uncle Ferd
They seem to be the only thing that is dependable at JFK.. I have never seen one NOT working.. Have you had a problem?

About 20% of the time in the ATL they are not working. Last week, after I came in from Joburg, I went to get on my 07:45am commute to MCO, which was a 767-300. It had been "oversold" but we left with 70, yes SEVENTY open seats (and I sat in F/C, first time in about a year) because...drum roll please...the Computers were down in Customs (including the Global Entry) and the 70 customers were Stuck in Customs.
Gotta love the World Port.
