I still think 150 is too small. Just doesn't seem worth it.
500 seems to worth it. That'd make more sense if they were going to furlough.
So what I am saying is I don't think they'd do any if 150 is all they could do.
Actually, what I am really saying is I hope they don't do any at all, so my oppinion that if they need to furlough 150 and thus won't is biased.
If you look at that Boyd's article about unemployment and airline travel then it really sucks to read in the WSJ that they expect unemployment to remain above 9% until the end of 2010.

In the long run, it will not even matter. Oil is on it's way back up to $150/barrel, there are no jobs out there, we're in a recession that will turn into a depression, and our government is still spending more than it takes it. The entire economy is going to collapse. The value of the dollar will plummet while inflation will skyrocket. It is not going to be pretty.

The furlough provisions are different if you were hired after 2001.

My point in bringing up this 150 number was that is how many pilots I can see them safely cut and not have them return for 18 months. NOT that WE ARE going to furlough. Any more than that just does not makes sense with the requirements on the long term charting .
The best protection is really the economy. Unlike after 9-11 where the corporate travel sector was booming, there are not jobs, so they are reasonable to suspect that anyone that is bumped will take a job at CPS unless they have a guard gig.

Does massive displacements and furloughs do Delta any good with pay protection provisions? If the saving is minimal they might as well wait until after SOC to start the bloodletting.

And the pay protection is 36 months post DCC, so there will still be 20+ months of pay protection of most.

The pay provisions are only there if you are willing to go to the highest paying equipment you can hold systemwide. Some like me could already hold a higher pay category so when I get bumped I will have no pay protections..... A lot of the DAL-n guys will elect to bid block and forgo the pay as opposed to reserve.

That pay protection is a sticky thing. You need to not hold a higher or equal paying jet anywhere in the system.
There are pockets of junior guys out west. Unless you are willing to commute to SLC or LAX it will more than likely be very hard to get the pay protection.
For example last time only a few guys that were ER NYC that were hired in the last few classes got it. Why, b/c their were junior people all over the place. Look at the category list.
Unless they do a massive displacement not many will get it.
