Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Watching this AMR filing discussed on tv it's obvious that AMR's side of the stir has been bought. The mantra is their non labor costs are equal to others but their labor contracts were far higher and sent them over the edge because their competitors got those labor costs already.
Nobody is well educated on the airline industry whatsoever. Nobody knows profitable SWA gets paid better. Hell probably a good portion of our airline pilot group doesn't know that.
The void today is nobody is standing up for the pilots, so by the end of the day pilots are down and those who have the authority to say something are nowhere to be found.

FYI, I think that SWA might have higher per pilot compensation, but have LOWER cost per pilot due to work rules, single type flying, etc.)
AMEN to the last part, it would be actually useful for the "National Voice for Pilots" to get in front of the cameras to take up our case, and make sure that EVERYONE knows that the "pilot labor costs" are not remotely part of the problem. (even if the pilot group under attack isn't part of the sandbox.)
If Tim Tebow was ALPA President he'd been all over this today. Saying even though APA isn't in our union group we fight for all pilots... and God bless you.
Just saying.
Just saying.

That is wildly off the mark. We were properly staffed for this summer and I think that they are planning a 1% reduction for next summer. 1% is about 110 pilots assuming 11,000 pilots in category. There are more than that leaving under the early out. They will not be short, but 1,000 overstaffed is just crazy talk. And no, no one is talking furlough.
Actually that is not it. That is not even part of the equation. It is their CURRENT salaries and benefits that are killing the company. Yeah.. greedy pilots working on a 20-something percent pre-bankruptcy paycut and having the NERVE to ask for raises. Can you imagine how AMR would have tanked had they signed any payraise contract? Of course, Leo had the foresight to sign that big fat contract KNOWING that DAL was headed to BK and he would get it all back.. Arpey was just incompetent in that regard.. sheesh, what's management coming to these days?

Bigfoot was sighted in the E concourse, the Men in Black were seen exiting the B bus, and various other wild rumors to add to the craziness of this thread.
