Now wait a minute, DAL 88 didn't specifically say 'Delta' MD-88! I'm pretty sure there are some -88s out there with three position pump switches. Or have I been drinking too much tonight?

Here's a question for "MadDog Mushers": What's the real reason that the Aux pump switch has an OVRD position?

Hell, I apparently can't identify the damned panel properly! But I'm curious, what's the *real* reason (vs. the book reason)?

It bypasses thermal protection ... or are going to say it powers up the droopy stuff so a guy can do that redonkulous autopilot / autoland buffonery prior to going outside to find a pole and ladder for the walk around (get dripped on) inspection?

The three switch positions should be:

POOR
/\
JUST LIKE OFF
\/
OFF

And I thought you quizzed me on how to do a proper FFOD hydraulics system test

The old Douglas instructor at the "factory school" asked us the reason, received the "standard" answer, and then said:
"Well, that's what we put in the book, but the fact is that we had a lot of those switches left over from the DC-8 program, so we had to come up with some function for that third switch position on the DC-9 series."

the 90/10 "coinsurance" is an outrage. MUST have contractually protected health plan (in addition to DPMP) in C2012.
+1 - if Obamacare makes it through we have no guarantees (unless it's in the contract) of DAL dumping us on the exchanges. While our health plan isn't currently the greatest it's better than some and at least we have choices that aren't exorbitantly priced.
