MEM guys? I don't think so. They will MD into ATL. IF they lived in the NE they would have already picked the DTW 320. The 320 and DC9 guys will MD into ATL on the 320, the 330, and the MD88. But, there will be a certain group who would love to fly the bus in NYC. Can you think who I am talking about? BOS commuters, due to the Shuttle flying have home layovers.

The 320 will be interesting to watch.

I think when the shuttle was an -88 it scared a lot of the BOS commuters off. Now that it's a bus they might pull the trigger.

Not to mention the 88 guys that will bid over to get their shuttle flying back (even guys that don't live in BOS).

IMO: Definitely not

In fact, I think DAL is planning to exercise their options for 30 more 737-900s and likely 3 more 777s. Those plans of course are subject to change.

Trickle down I think the bottom of each category in NYC ER B and down is going to be filled with some MD's.

I think that's what ACL might have been referring to.

Currently NYC ER has guys from the very last class hired that were MD'd into it.

What were they saying last time? One would have to be out for at least 2 years to make it worth it?

Retirements aren't terribly far off and it wasn't long ago they were belly aching about not knowing when the 60+ might walk or have to walk.

Add the Compass mess and I'll also toss in a NO vote.

I agree, but that's only half the equation. The other half is management leadership. If RA wants credit for being the visionary, brilliant C.E. Woolman reincarnate many (including himself) see him as, he needs to lead from the top and stop trying to run a Leo Mullin/Rakesh Gangwal/Glen Tilton Virginia Avenue travel agency and start running the worlds premier airline. You can't, ever, do that with the level of mass outsourcing just for the sake of oursourcing that our company is being directed from the top to implement. Its great that we're paying down debt (we wouldn't be around long if we weren't) and actually trying to price our product at or above what it costs to pruduce (novel concept in this industry for sure) but that's not enough. We need leadership from the top that puts this airline, its employees and its customers first.

Worshiping the shareholders to impress the crackberry analcysts might get us a favorable one day bump here and there when our next "capacity dicipline" press release comes out, but its harming the core product and revenue generating engine of this airline for the long term. When that happens, the shareholders get punished even more than labor when they lose 100%. Shareholders have to be placed firmly behind labor and customers or all 3 lose.

Oh no.. junior line holders have that expense too. 6am LGA sign ins... 2300 arrivals.. Same at JFK which results in either hotel rooms or a crash pad and all the requisite transportation. Yeah.. unless you are above 2000 in seniority or below 4900 or so, it just ain't worth it. Trust me.
